A method is provided for forming a flexible fire-resistant and thermal resistant sheet product. Such a method comprises securing a first insulation material sheet to a first cover sheet to form a first sheet product portion including a perimeter; securing a second insulation material sheet to a second cover sheet to form a second sheet product portion including a perimeter; and securing the first sheet product portion to the second sheet product portion, at least about the perimeters thereof and such that the first insulation material sheet is disposed adjacent to the second insulation material sheet, to form the sheet product. An associated apparatus is also provided.
YARN FOR REINFORCING COMPOSITE MATERIALS
A yarn for reinforcing composite material includes carbon nanotubes. The yarn has also been treated to promote interaction with a resinous matrix.
MULTI-LAYERED FABRIC LAMINATES AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Multi-layered fabric laminates, such as, for example, those used as filler cloths and/or in manufacturing mattress foundations, are described along with methods of making and/using the same.
Belt as endless traction means and method for producing such a belt
The invention relates to a belt (1) as a continuous traction means, in particular for conveyor belts of agricultural machines, in particular baling presses, comprising at least one fabric layer (2) embedded, at least in certain regions, in a polymer layer (3), in particular rubber layer, whereby end regions (1a, 1b) of the belt (1) lie flat on top of one another in an overlap region (4) and are connected to each other for creating a continuous belt (1) reinforced by the fabric layer (2). According to the invention, it is provided that the end regions (1a, 1b) of the belt (1) are connected to each other by at least one thread (7) forming a seam (9), whereby, to that end, said at least one thread (7) penetrates the end regions (1a, 1b) of the belt (1) in a seam region (6) in several stitches (8), whereby the fabric layer (2) of the belt (1) is embedded in the polymer layer (3) at least across said seam region (6), and the thread (7) is embedded in transition regions (20) between the stitches (8) into the polymer layer (3) in such a manner shallowly at a depth of penetration (T) that the thread (7) runs below surfaces (10a, 10b) of the belt (1).
LAYERED COMPOSITE ARTICLES AND METHODS OF MAKING SAME
Described is a method of making a densified fiber batt that includes the steps of: a) providing a fiber batt with a first plurality of fibers having a first melting point and a second plurality of fibers having a second melting point different from the first melting point; and b) subjecting the fiber batt to heat and pressure in a static press, thereby forming a densified fiber batt having a first surface and an opposed second surface.
Process for applying film backing to synthetic turf and product
The invention comprises a method of making synthetic turf. The method comprises applying an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer adhesive to a first primary surface of a tufted primary backing to form a coating thereon and wherein the primary backing is tufted with a plurality of synthetic filaments to form a face pile extending outwardly from a second primary surface of the synthetic turf opposite the first primary surface and heating the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer adhesive to a temperature above its melting point so that the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer adhesive melts and at least partially flows into the primary backing. The method also comprises heating a linear low-density polyethylene film to a temperature below the softening point of the film and pressing the heated linear low-density polyethylene film into contact with the polymer coated first primary surface of the tufted primary backing. The method further comprises allowing the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer adhesive and the linear low-density polyethylene film to cool, whereby the linear low-density polyethylene film is adhered to the tufted primary backing.
Vehicle interior component and method of making a vehicle interior component
A vehicle interior component and method of making a vehicle interior component where a plurality of hollow stitch acceptance holes are formed in a component substrate to accommodate a stitch seam in a decorative covering that is attached to the component substrate. The stitch seam extends through the decorative covering to create filled stitch acceptance holes from the hollow stitch acceptance holes. The stitch seam can be created after an in-mold grain process in which the component substrate and decorative covering are laminated together.
BALLISTIC-RESISTANT ARTICLE BASED ON SHEETS WITH DISCONTINUOUS FILM SPLITS
A ballistic-resistant articles, and methods for their preparation, based on sheets of UHMWPE films with discontinuous film splits, which combine flexibility and good ballistic properties, making them suitable for both soft-ballistic and hard-ballistic applications.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A SHEET-LIKE COMPOSITE PART WITH IMPROVED COMPRESSION STRENGTH
Sheet-like composite parts are manufactured by: a) providing a substantially planar arrangement (A, B, A′) comprising a core layer (B) comprising a a fleece material made of fleece thermoplastic fibers and reinforcement fibers, sandwiched between a pair of skin layers (A, A′), each comprising a skin thermoplastic and optionally reinforcement fibers, one face of the core layer being adjacent and substantially parallel to a skin layer and a second face of the core layer being adjacent and substantially parallel to the other skin layer, b) heating and pressing the sandwich arrangement (A,B,A′) followed by cooling, thereby obtaining the composite part, wherein the compression strength of the composite part is improved with a core layer (B) which is a Z-oriented core layer having reinforcement fibers that are predominantly oriented in a direction (Z) perpendicular to the first and second faces, produced by multiple folding.
CONVEYOR BELT CARCASS CONTAINING ONE OR MORE IMPREGNATED NON-WOVEN FABRIC LAYERS
A belt carcass (1) comprising one, two, or more than two impregnated layers (21,22,23,24,25); characterised in that i) each impregnated layer (21,22,23,24,25) comprises, or consists essentially of, a non-wovenfabric (3,301,302,303,304,305,306,307,308) and an impregnation material (4,401,402,403,404,405,406,407,408) comprising, or consisting essentially of, a first thermoplastic, first thermoplastic elastomer, first elastomer or first thermoset and optional additives; whereby, if there are two or more such impregnated layers (21,22,23,24,25), they are adjacent to each other, ii) if the belt carcass (1) comprises one or more such impregnated layers (21,22,23,24,25), then reinforcing filaments extending at least in part in one given direction and being in the form of one filament layer (51) are embedded in the non-woven fabric (3) of exactly one of said impregnated layers (21); or if the belt carcass (1) comprises two or more such impregnated layers (21,22,23,24,25), then reinforcing filaments extending at least in part in one given direction and being in the form of one filament layer (52,53) are sandwiched between two adjacent such impregnated layers (21/22, 24/25), and iii) the belt carcass is devoid of woven fabrics.
