INSULATION BLANKET HAVING A DEPOSITED PASSIVATOR FOR INDUSTRIAL INSULATION APPLICATIONS
A passivating flexible insulation blanket positionable about a pipe includes an insulation core, an enclosing fabric, and a non-consumable passivator. The insulation core is substantially hydrophobic and includes a microporous material. The enclosing fabric fully encapsulates the insulation core to form a capsule or pouch about the insulation core. The non-consumable passivator is non-consumable such that there is no appreciable change to a mass of the non-consumable passivator after an extended time of activation. The non-consumable passivator is deposited into the insulation core and has a composition soluble in water. The non-consumable passivator includes a leachable component that leaches from the insulation core and is capable of neutralizing acidic components. The leachable component is water soluble and is capable of reacting with a surface of the pipe to form a protective coating on the pipe to aid in inhibiting corrosion formation on the surface of the pipe.
COATING WITH AN ORDERED SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF NANOPARTICLES
A coating including an ordered spatial distribution of a plurality of nanoparticles; and a polymer medium is disclosed. Also disclosed is an article, such as an optical device, can include the coating, on a substrate. A multilayer structure can include the coating with a high refractive index layer adjacent to the coating. A method of making the coating, the article, and the multilayer structures is disclosed.
ARMOR
The present invention relates to a flexible ballistic armor apparatus for deflecting high velocity firearm, fragmentation, or shrapnel projectiles with a flexible armor unit. The apparatus minimizes the deterioration of the armor when subjected to shock waves or shear forces of a ballistic impact. The present invention also relates to the use of a flexible armor unit with soft body armor, a vehicle, a vessel, an aircraft or in structural applications.
BRIGHT SILVER BASED QUATERNARY NANOSTRUCTURES
Disclosed are nanostructures comprising Ag, In, Ga, and S and a shell comprising Ag, Ga and S, wherein the nanostructures have a peak wavelength emission of 480-545 nm and wherein at least about 80% of the emission is band-edge emission. Also disclosed are methods of making the nanostructures.
LAMINATE
The present invention is a laminate including a base sheet and a metal particle-containing layer laminated on the base sheet, and including metal particles. The base sheet has a contact surface in contact with the metal particle-containing layer, and a Young's modulus of the base sheet at 23° C., which is obtained by measuring the contact surface using a nano-indentation method, is 0.01 to 10 GPa.
BALLISTIC RESISTANT MATERIAL
A composite material system having an aggregate bound by an elastomer encapsulant. The composite material (CM) is designed to defeat impinging projectiles by converting the kinetic energy (KE) in the projectile to damage in the aggregate and the elastomer and increasing the thermal energy in the CM and the projectile via frictional heating. In one embodiment, the CM comprises certain kinds of rocks encapsulated (or bound) in a hyper-elastic polymer, such as polyurethane (“PU”). The CM may be shaped into convenient shapes from modular assembly to create a ballistic resistant surface.
MULTI-LAYER WEARABLE BODY ARMOR
A multi-layer body armor plate includes a strike plate; a mesh layer positioned over the strike plate, the mesh layer having a number of open cells; and an outer skin layer positioned over the mesh layer so as to encapsulate the open cells of the mesh layer between the strike plate and the outer skin layer. The open cells of the mesh layer may entrap air or may be filled with expandable, buoyant foam.
COMPOSITES AND METHODS OF FORMING COMPOSITES HAVING AN INCREASED VOLUME OF CERAMIC PARTICLES
A fiber reinforced composite component may include interleaved textile layers and ceramic particle layers coated with matrix material. The fiber reinforced composite component may be fabricated by forming a fibrous preform and densifying the fibrous preform. The fibrous preform may be fabricated by forming a first ceramic particle layer over a first textile layer, disposing a second textile layer over the first ceramic particle layer, forming a second ceramic particle layer over the second textile layer, and disposing a third textile layer over the second ceramic particle layer.
Electronic component and method thereof
An electronic component includes an element main body and at least a pair of outer electrodes on the element main body. The outer electrodes each include an underlying electrode layer positioned so as to be in contact with the element main body and a plating layer positioned so as to be in contact with the underlying electrode layer. The plating layer includes a Ni—Sn alloy plating layer positioned so as to be in contact with the underlying electrode layer.
Fire-resistant thermoplastic membrane composite and method of manufacturing the same
A thermoplastic membrane composite comprising (i) a planar thermoplastic body having first and second opposed planar surfaces; (ii) a fabric backing fixedly attached to said first planar surface thereby forming an interface between said thermoplastic body and said fabric backing; and (iii) expandable graphite disposed at or near the interface.
