CONSTRUCTION SHEATHING AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME

A laminated building sheathing comprises a rigid foam board and a facer. The rigid foam board comprises a drainage pattern formed on a major surface of the foam board. The drainage pattern comprises a drainage channel. The facer is configured to cover the major surface of the rigid form board and to essentially conform to the drainage pattern. The facer is semi-permanently bonded to the drainage channel but permanently bonded to non-channel planar portions of the major surface.

AN UNBONDED FLEXIBLE PIPE

An unbonded flexible pipe with a length and bore and an offshore installation are disclosed. The pipe comprises an internal pressure sheath, at least one metallic armouring layer surrounding the internal pressure sheath and at least one additional layer surrounding the metallic armouring layer. The metallic armouring layer comprises helically wound armouring elements which are at least partly covered by a viscous fluid having a kinematic viscosity of at least about 1000 cSt (ASTM D445 or ASTM D2170). The at least one additional layer surrounding the metallic armouring layer provides a gas escape route radially outwards from the metallic armouring layer beyond an outermost layer of the least one additional layer or to a lengthwise gas escape path in or between the at least one additional layer.

Shingle with reinforcement member

A roofing shingle includes an asphalt-coated sheet and a reinforcement member. The asphalt-coated sheet includes a shingle mat and an asphalt coating applied to the shingle mat. The asphalt-coated sheet has a lower tab portion normally exposed on a roof and an upper headlap portion normally covered-up on a roof. At least a portion of the asphalt-coated sheet is coated with granules. The reinforcement member is adhered to the asphalt-coated sheet along an upper edge of the headlap portion, with the reinforcement member and the headlap portion together providing a nail pull-through value that is greater than an otherwise identical shingle having no such reinforcement material.

A method of making a laminated shingle is provided. The method includes coating a shingle mat with roofing asphalt to make an asphalt-coated sheet, adhering a reinforcement member to a portion of the asphalt-coated sheet, covering the asphalt-coated sheet, and optionally covering the reinforcement member, with granules to make a granule-covered sheet, dividing the granule-covered sheet into an overlay sheet and an underlay sheet, wherein the overlay sheet has a tab portion normally exposed on a roof and a headlap portion normally covered-up on a roof, the headlap portion having a lower zone adjacent the tab portion and an upper zone adjacent the lower zone, and wherein the reinforcement member is adhered to the lower zone of the headlap portion and laminating the overlay sheet and the underlay sheet to make the laminated shingle.

LIGHTWEIGHT FILLER FOR WATERPROOFING BITUMEN MEMBRANES

A waterproofing membrane including a reinforcing material coated with a blend formulation, the blend formulation including glass spheres having a particle size between 0.25-0.50 mm and a particle density between 0.5-0.8 g/cm.sup.3.

Shingle with reinforcement member

A roofing shingle includes an overlay sheet, an underlay sheet, and a reinforcement member. The overlay sheet includes a headlap portion and a tab portion, wherein the overlay sheet has an overlay sheet height. The underlay sheet is secured to a bottom surface of the overlay sheet such that a region of the underlay sheet overlaps a region of the headlap portion of the overlay sheet. The reinforcement material is secured to a top surface of the headlap portion of the overlay sheet, wherein the reinforcement material is configured to improve nail pull-through, wherein the reinforcement material extends beyond the overlapping regions of the headlap portion and the underlay sheet.

POLYMAT SHINGLE

Disclosed is a shingle that uses a polyester sheet as a substrate layer. The polyester sheet has a sufficient weight and is needled and formed from two layers to resist shrinking upon cooling after the heated asphalt layers are applied to the polyester substrate sheet 102. In addition, additives may be included in the asphalt to lower the softening point temperature of the asphalt that further reduces shrinking of the polyester substrate 102 or allows other polymers that are more fire retardant to be used. Fire retardants can be placed in the polyester sheet fibers, placed in the bonding agent for the polyester fibers, or the polyester sheet can be coated with the fire retardant. Alternatively, or in addition to treating the polyester sheet 102 with fire retardant, fire retardant materials such as ammonium sulfate can be added to the liquid asphalt prior to application of the asphalt layers.

Shingle with reinforced nail zone and method of manufacturing

A roofing shingle includes an asphalt-coated overlay sheet, an underlay sheet having a front surface secured to the overlay sheet, and a reinforcement member is secured directly to the asphalt coating of the headlap portion of the overlay sheet without extending into the tab portion. The asphalt coated overlay sheet includes a first granular material secured to a first portion of a front surface of the headlap portion of the overlay sheet along the nail zone, and a second granular material secured to a second portion of the front surface of the headlap portion of the overlay sheet adjacent to the first portion of the front surface of the headlap portion, with the first granular material providing a thinner cross-section than the second granular material to define a depressed surface extending along said longitudinal axis of the nail zone.
