Roofing membrane with integrated surface reinforcement
A surface-reinforced bitumen roofing membrane includes at least two layers, namely 1) a bitumen compound layer, and 2) a fiber mat, and can optionally include a) an optional bleed blocker layer that is located between the bitumen compound layer and the fiber mat, b) an optional liquid applied coating that partially or fully encapsulates the fiber mat, c) an optional release liner that is releasably positioned on the bottom surface of the bitumen roofing membrane, and/or d) an optional release film that is releasably positioned on the fiber mat surface.
Shock absorbing structure
An apparatus comprised of a first portion comprising a generally flexible fabric, and a second portion or layer comprising a gel material formed in a generally planar rectangular shape. Positioned below the second layer is a third portion or a damping layer having a series of dampers positioned thereon, where the dampers are elastomeric flexible and compressible. The three portions are laminated together.
MULTILAYER COMPOSITE COMPRISING A BACKBONE FILM
The present invention relates to a multilayer composite comprising a first monolayer comprising high-performance fibers, aligned in a first direction and a first matrix material and a second monolayer comprising high-performance fibers, aligned in a second direction and a second matrix material and a third polymeric film located in between the first and the second monolayer, with the third polymeric film having a tensile modulus of at least 0.75 GPa measured by ASTM D882. Preferably the high-performance fibers comprise UHMWPE fibers. A thermoplastic polyurethane is in contact with the first monolayer to form a first outer layer of the composite and in contact with the second monolayer to form a second outer layer of the composite, opposite to the first outer layer. The present invention further relates to the use of the multilayer composite in backpacks, packs, bags, medical gear, outdoor products, sail cloths, tents, tarps, shelters, clothing, ponchos, foul weather gear, mats, outerwear, jackets, sleeping bags, lift bags, parachutes, large kites, inflatable structures, beams, balloons, backraft, inflatable gear, liferaft, inflatable sculptures, airship (HAA: High Altitude Airships), space applications, flexible circuits, footwear and umbrella's.
COMPOSITE SEMIPERMEABLE MEMBRANE
A composite semipermeable membrane includes a porous support membrane, a separation functional layer containing a polyamide disposed on the porous support membrane, and a coating layer disposed on the separation functional layer, wherein a water contact angle of a surface of the coating layer is 40° or less, and a protein adsorption force of the surface of the coating layer is 0.4 nN or less.
Thermal Insulators and Methods Thereof
The provided articles and methods use a non-woven fibrous web containing 60-100 wt % of oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers; and 0-40 wt % of reinforcing fibers having outer surfaces comprised of a polymer with a melting temperature of from 100° C. to 300° C. The non-woven fibrous web has an average bulk density of from 15 kg/m.sup.3 to 50 kg/m.sup.3, with the plurality of fibers substantially entangled along directions perpendicular to a major surface of the non-woven fibrous web. Optionally, the oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers can have a crimped configuration. Advantageously, these articles can display a combination of low thermal conductivity, high tensile strength, and flame resistance.
HOSE FOR TRANSPORTATION OF REFRIGERANT
A hose for transportation of refrigerant includes an inner layer, a reinforcing layer, and an outer layer. The inner and outer layers each include a thermoplastic resin composition having a sea-island structure including a matrix containing a thermoplastic resin and a domain containing an elastomer. A water vapor permeability coefficient of the thermoplastic resin composition of the outer layer at a temperature of 60° C. and a relative humidity of 100% is 10.0 g.Math.mm/(m.sup.2.Math.24 h) or less. An oxygen permeability coefficient of the thermoplastic resin composition of the inner layer at a temperature of 21° C. and a relative humidity of 50% is 0.05 cm.sup.3 mm/(m.sup.2.Math.day.Math.mmHg) or less. A water vapor permeation amount of the hose is 6.0 mg/(240 h.Math.cm.sup.2) or less. A hydrofluoroolefin HFO-1234yf permeation amount of the hose is 170 g/(m.sup.2.Math.72 h) or less, and the mass per 1 m.sup.2 of the outer surface area of the hose is 3000 g/m.sup.2 or less.
PROTECTIVE PAD OR GARMENT PORTION
A protective pad or garment portion, garments, and individual layers, being a moisture wicking layer, a core moisture absorbing layer and a moisture impermeable layer, and combinations thereof are disclosed.
FLAME RETARDANT COMPOSITE ARTICLES AND METHODS FOR REDUCING EXPOSURE TO FLAMES
Described are composite articles containing heat stable spun yarn containing textiles that exhibit low flammability and thermal shrinkage resistance. A composite article is described comprising (1) a textile layer comprising a heat stable spun yarn and (2) a heat reactive layer. The articles can be National Fire Protection Agency (“NFPA”) 2112 compliant.
