LAMINATED LIGHT-BLOCKING DECORATIVE ARTICLES
20220379581 · 2022-12-01 ·

Laminated light-blocking decorative articles are prepared by applying an aqueous foamed opacifying composition to a non-woven fabric, drying, laminating a decorative fabric to the resulting dry foamed opacifying layer, and densifying that layer to have a thickness that is at least 20% less than before densifying. This operation can be carried out so that non-woven fabric, decorative fabric, and aqueous foamed opacifying composition are supplied in a single-pass, in-line operation to make any desired quantity of a laminated light-blocking decorative article. The applied aqueous foamed opacifying composition has 35%-70% solids and a foam density of 0.1-0.5 g/cm.sup.3. It is composed of (a) porous particles, (b) a binder material, (c) two or more additives comprising at least one foaming surfactant and at least one foam stabilizer, (d) an aqueous medium, and (e) at least 0.0001 weight % of an opacifying colorant that absorbs electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of 380-800 nm.

CO-MINGLING OF PARTICULAR MATERIAL AND CO-AXIAL-MELTBLOWN FIBERS
20220364284 · 2022-11-17 · ·

The present invention relates to the manufacturing equipment for web materials comprising fibers and particulate material, to a process of operating such an equipment and to particular materials resulting therefrom. Coaxially meltblown fibres are combined with a stream of particulate or short fiber material and the resulting commingled mixture is deposited onto a collector. The meltblown fibers are formed by nozzles which are divided into two or more sub-arrays configured to produce two or more different types of fiber, having e.g. different diameters and/or polymer composition.

COMPOSITE MATERIAL WITH MOLTEN POLYMER BARRIER EFFECT AND WITH FLAME-RETARDANT PROPERTIES, AND METHOD FOR MAKING SUCH A COMPOSITE MATERIAL
20230098618 · 2023-03-30 ·

A composite material having a molten polymer barrier effect with flame-retardant properties includes a first layer of non-woven fabric having 40% or more by weight of oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers to confer flame-retardant properties. The first layer has a basis weight of 200-600 g/m2 and a thickness of 1.6-5 mm. A barrier layer overlaps the first layer and counteracts passage of molten polymer. The first layers oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers have a count of 1.5-5 dtex and the other first layer synthetic fibers have a count of 0.8-5 dtex. The barrier layer includes a second layer of non-woven fabric of hydro-entangled synthetic and/or artificial fibers. The barrier layer has a basis weight of 70-150 g/m2; a thickness of 0.4-1.5 mm; and a permeability of 200 L/m2s-2000 L/m2s under a pressure drop of 2 mbar. The composite material has a thickness of 2-6.5 mm, and a basis weight of 270-750 g/m2.

MULTI-LAYER PROTECTION ELEMENT FOR A BATTERY
20230035826 · 2023-02-02 ·

A multi-layer protection element for thermal insulation of a battery, a battery with such a protection element and the use of the protection element to filter gases escaping in case of fire and to prevent the escape of flames and/or sparks are proposed. The highly gas-permeable protection element comprises a carrier layer of a fabric and a compressible fibre layer in the form of a sewn non-woven fabric. The protection element is arranged between at least one battery cell and a housing wall of the battery and covers an outlet of the housing wall on the inside. This enables good pressure compensation in the event of fire and/or a short circuit, wherein escaping gases are filtered in particular through the fibre layer and the escape of flames or sparks through the outlet is prevented.
