Manufacturing of decorative surfaces

A method for manufacturing decorative surfaces includes, in order, the steps of a) inkjet printing an image on a first thermoplastic foil by jetting and UV curing one or more pigmented free radical UV curable inkjet inks on the first thermoplastic foil; b) applying on the inkjet printed image a second thermoplastic foil carrying a layer containing a vinylchloride-vinylacetate-vinylalcohol copolymer with the layer facing the inkjet printed image on the first thermoplastic foil; and c) heat pressing the first and second thermoplastic foils into a decorative laminate; wherein at least one of the first and second thermoplastic foils is transparent, and the one or more pigmented free radical UV curable inkjet inks contain a polymerizable composition having: 30 to 90 wt % of one or more compounds with one ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group; 10 to 70 wt % of one or more compounds with two ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups; and 0 to 10 wt % of one or more compounds with three or more ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups.

High modulus, high thermal conductivity radiative passive coolant

A polymer bilayer includes a layer of a porous fluoropolymer directly overlying a layer of polyethylene. The polyethylene layer may be porous or dense and may include an ultra-high molecular weight polymer. The polymer bilayer may be co-integrated with structures (e.g., wearable devices) exposed to high thermal loads (>0-1000 W/m.sup.2) and provide passive cooling thereof. For instance, passive cooling of AR/VR glasses under different solar loads may be achieved by a polymer bilayer that is both highly reflective across solar heating wavelengths and highly emissive in the long-wavelength infrared. The high reflectance decreases energy absorption across the solar spectrum while the high emissivity promotes radiative heat transfer to the surroundings.

MEDICAL PROTECTIVE CLOTHNG MATERIALS

Protective clothing materials and related methods and garments are provided. In some embodiments, a protective clothing material may comprise a fibrous layer that serves as a barrier to certain fluids (e.g., bodily fluids, water) and microbes. The impermeability of the fibrous layer may be due, at least in part, to the structural uniformity and/or relatively small pore size of the fibrous layer. In some embodiments, the fibrous layer may have a relatively high air permeability that imparts beneficial properties (e.g., relatively high air flow, breathability) to the protective clothing material without adversely affecting its protection rating. In certain embodiments, the protective clothing material may also comprise one or more coarse nonwoven webs that impart beneficial properties (e.g., splash resistance) to the protective clothing material. The protective clothing materials, described herein, may be particularly useful for a wide variety of applications, including the formation of AAMI level 4 protective garments.

Multilayer facer

A glass facer for a constructions board includes a first non-woven layer of coarse fibers and a second non-woven layer of coarse fibers and microfibers. The glass facer also includes a binder that simultaneously binds or adheres the coarse fibers of the first non-woven layer together, the coarse fibers and the microfibers of the second non-woven layer together, and the first non-woven layer to the second non-woven layer. The first non-woven layer has a porosity and air permeability that enables the first non-woven layer to absorb a material of the construction board when the glass facer is positioned atop the construction board during manufacture of the construction board. The second non-woven layer is configured to block the material of the construction board from passing through the glass facer to an exterior surface of the second non-woven layer so that the material is not externally visible.

Wind turbine generator system, wind turbine blade, and reinforcing method for wind turbine blade

A wind turbine blade is reinforced while suppressing possible stress concentration resulting from a load imposed on a blade root portion of the wind turbine blade in a flap direction. The wind turbine blade includes a blade main body extending from the blade root portion toward a blade tip portion and an FRP reinforcing layer formed so as to cover at least a part of the outer surface of the blade root portion of the blade main body. The FRP reinforcing layer includes a plurality of laminated fiber layers and a resin with which the plurality of fiber layers is impregnated. The FRP reinforcing layer is formed such that, in a cross section along a longitudinal direction of the blade main body, both ends of the plurality of laminated fiber layers in the longitudinal direction are tapered.
