PREFORM FOR MULTILAYER CONTAINER COMPRISING A POLYETHYLENE FURANOATE LAYER

A preform for multilayer container having a polyethylene furanoate layer includes an outer layer defining an exterior surface and including poly(ethylene terephthalate) and an inner barrier layer including semi-crystalline poly(ethylene furanoate) where the semi-crystalline poly(ethylene furanoate) of the inner barrier layer has a crystallinity in the range of 3 to 10%.

CURATIVE
20220220251 · 2022-07-14 ·

A curative for epoxidized plant-based oils and epoxidized natural rubber is created from the reaction between a naturally occurring polyfunctional acid and an epoxidized plant-based oil is disclosed. The curative may be used to produce porosity-free castable resins and vulcanize rubber formulations based on epoxidized natural rubber. Materials made from disclosed materials may be advantageously used as leather substitutes.

Packaging material with matte and glossy appearance, and cold seal adhesive

A packaging material can include cold seal adhesive on a first side of a substrate, glossy material on a second side of the substrate, and matte material on the glossy material, so that the matte material covers at least a predetermined portion of the glossy material. Each of the glossy and matte materials can be a cold seal release lacquer configured so that when the packaging material is formed into a roll, the cold seal adhesive is releasably adhered to the cold seal release lacquers, the glossy cold seal release lacquer is fixedly adhered to the substrate, and the matte cold seal release lacquer is fixedly cohered to the glossy cold seal release lacquer.

High barrier coated paperboard

Paperboard structures having extruded barrier layers are provided. Using layer multiplication extrusion it has been found that nylon barrier layer properties can be improved. The further inclusion of metallocene PE in the layers being layer multiplied through extrusion coating provide additional improvements in barrier properties for the paperboard substrate.

HEAT RESISTANT POLYETHYLENE MULTILAYER FILMS FOR HIGH SPEED FLEXIBLE PACKAGING LINES

Multilayer films comprising an outer layer, a sealant layer, and a tie layer positioned between the outer layer and the sealant layer are provided. The outer layer includes one or more of a first polyethylene having a density of greater than 0.945 g/cc and a polyethylene having a density of from 0.910 to 0.940 g/cc. The sealant layer includes one or more of at least one ethylene acid copolymer having from 0.1 to 10 wt % neutralized with a cation source, a polyethylene plastomer having a density below 0.910 g/cc, and an ethylene based polymer having a melting point Tm (DSC) of less than or equal to 108° C. The tie layer includes an adhesive resin selected from the group consisting of anhydride grafted ethylene based polymer, ethylene acid copolymer, and ethylene vinyl acetate.

The invention relates to a multi-layer paneling structure having a high gloss cap and second layer of high impact resistance thermoplastic polymer or composites for exterior and interior paneling applications where chemical resistance and/or scratch resistance is desired. The invention also relates to a high gloss, multi-layer panel that can easily be repaired, once marred, to return the surface gloss to at least 90% of the original surface gloss. The invention further relates to articles made with the multi-layer paneling structure of the invention. The multi-layer structure can be used alone, or can be very thin and used as a replacement for an undercoating and coating on an article, such as a metal car part.

Biaxially-oriented polyethylene multilayer film with a matte surface

A biaxially-oriented polyethylene (BOPE) multilayer film comprises a skin layer with a matte surface and a core, the skin layer with a matte surface comprising, in weight percent (wt %) based upon the weight of the skin layer: (1) from 20 to 80 wt % of an ethylene-based polymer, and (2) from 80 to 20 wt % of a propylene-based polymer; each of the ethylene-based polymer and the propylene-based polymer having a storage modulus, with a difference between the storage modulus of the ethylene-based polymer and the propylene-based polymer of greater than 40 megaPascals (MPa) at 110° C., and greater than 18 MPa at 120° C.
