Releasable polyester metal transfer film
09630385 · 2017-04-25 · ·

A carrier film of thermoplastic polyester has releasable metal adhesive properties suitable for a metal transfer in which the polyester film is metalized and the metal layer is subsequently transferred to a permanent adhesive-coated substrate. The metal layer is in direct contact with the polyester carrier film and no intermediate release layer is present. Desired metal adhesion is provided by dispersing a suitable surfactant, and optionally, a hydrocarbon wax, uniformly into the polyester film. Surfactant on the outer surface of the carrier film modifies metal adhesion to the polyester such that the metal can be removed in a metal transfer operation.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene film with low moisture vapor transmission rate

A laminate film comprising a core layer comprising of a high crystalline propylene homopolymer blended with an amount of hydrocarbon resin; crystalline polyethylene wax; and a fluoropolymer and/or a metal oxide nanoparticle which exhibits excellent transparency and moisture vapor barrier properties. The laminate film could further have additional layers such as a second polyolefin resin-containing layer, or a heat-sealable polyolefin-containing layer, or combinations thereof.

This coated metal plate is a chromate-free coated metal plate for exterior applications, which comprises a metal plate and a coating film that is arranged on the metal plate. The coating film contains 0.01-15% by volume of porous particles as a gloss control agent. If R (m) is the number average particle diameter of the gloss control agent, T (m) is the film thickness of the coating film, and is the standard deviation of the number-based particle size distribution of the gloss control agent, the coated metal plate satisfies the following formulae. (R+2)/T0.7 R2.0 9T19.

METHOD OF PRODUCING A SURFACE PROTECTION COMPOSITE
20170100923 · 2017-04-13 · ·

The present invention provides a method of making a three-layer aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) surface protection composite. The method involves extruding an aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) layer onto a substrate layer at the flat die extrusion nip comprising a rubber roller in the back position and a polished steel roller in the front position; cooling the extruded aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane; feeding the two-layer thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) composite film into a downstream nip comprising at least one rubber roller; and laminating a flexible polymer interleaf film onto the exposed thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) side of the two-layer composite under pressure in that nip. The surface protection composite of the present invention may be included in a variety of products for use in automotive, electronics or furniture applications

RADIO-WAVE TRANSPARENT COVER FOR VEHICLE

A radio-wave transparent cover of a vehicle is provided. The radio-wave transparent cover includes a design layer that is disposed on the front or rear surface of a film member having improved radio-wave transparency and a design layer that has an image formed thereon. The radio-wave transparent cover further includes a lens layer that is formed on the front surface of the film member and that has protrusions formed thereon, to exhibit exhibiting a metal appearance and effect and that forms a three-dimensional image.

LAMINATE, MOLDED ARTICLE, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING LAMINATE

A laminate includes a paper substrate layer and a first resin layer located on at least one side of the paper substrate layer. The first resin layer contains a poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) resin and polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of saponification of less than 90 mol %. The solids weight ratio of the poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) resin to the polyvinyl alcohol is from 99.8/0.2 to 95.0/5.0. The laminate can be produced by applying an aqueous coating liquid to at least one side of the paper substrate and drying the applied aqueous coating liquid to form the first resin layer on the paper substrate.

Methods for protecting portable electronic devices

A protective film includes an adhesive material configured for dry application to a surface that is to be protected, such as the surface of an electronic device. An installation assembly that includes the protective film is configured to minimize or eliminate contact with the protective film as it is applied to the surface that is to be protected. Methods for manufacturing a protective film and an installation assembly that includes the protective film may be effected in contaminant-free conditions. Methods for applying the protective film are also disclosed, as are devices (e.g., electronic devices, etc.) with at least one surface covered with a protective film.
