Sensitizing composition using electromagnetic waves for thermal therapy of cancers, and cancer therapy using same
Disclosed are a sensitizing composition for thermal cancer therapy using electromagnetic waves and a method of treating cancer using the composition. The sensitizing composition includes a metal ion, a metal ion-bound material, metal ion-noncovalently bound apotransferrin (transferrin), or a metal ion-noncovalently bound apotransferrin derivative. The sensitizing composition enables selective delivery of the metal ion to tumorous tissue when administered in vivo, and thus the generation of heat in tumorous tissue in which the metal ion accumulates is increased upon thermal cancer therapy using electromagnetic waves, thereby maximizing efficacy of thermal cancer therapy using electromagnetic waves in treating cancer. Thermal therapy using the sensitizing composition effectively treats cancer without pain or side effects and is thus expected to be widely useful in anticancer treatment as monotherapy, and/or in combination with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or a combination thereof, ultimately increases the potential to cure cancer.

Ablation catheters
Cardiac tissue ablation catheters including an inflatable and flexible toroidal or spherically shaped balloon disposed at a distal region of an elongate member, a flexible circuit carried by an outer surface of the balloon, the flexible circuit including, a plurality of flexible branches conforming to the radially outer surface of the balloon, each of the plurality of flexible branches including a substrate, a conductive trace carried by the substrate, and an ablation electrode carried by the substrate, the ablation electrode in electrical communication with the conductive trace, and an elongate shaft comprising a guidewire lumen extending in the elongate member and extending from a proximal region of the inflatable balloon to distal region of the inflatable balloon and being disposed within the inflatable balloon, wherein a distal region of the elongate shaft is secured directly or indirectly to the distal region of the inflatable balloon.
Ultrasound treatment device and methods of use
A method can include targeting a region of interest below a surface of skin, which contains fat lobuli and delivering ultrasound energy to the region of interest. The ultrasound energy generates a conformal lesion with said ultrasound energy on a surface of a fat lobuli. The lesion creates an opening in the surface of the fat which allows the draining of a fluid out of the fat lobuli and through the opening. In addition, by applying ultrasound energy to fat cells to increase the temperature to between 43° C. and 49° C. degrees, cell apoptosis can be realized, thereby resulting in reduction of fat.
Deep body spread microwave hyperthermia device for personal uses and operating method thereof
Disclosed are a deep body spread microwave hyperthermia device for personal uses and an operation method thereof. The operating method may include generating a control signal to control patches attached to the skin of a user, dividing the control signal into a first signal and a second signal having a phase different from a phase of the first signal, transmitting the first signal and the second signal to patches attached to different positions, among the patches, and producing hyperthermia in a body of the user by radiating radio waves based on the first signal or the second signal received by each of the patches.
NON-INVASIVE ENERGY UPCONVERSION METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR IN-SITU PHOTOBIOMODULATION
Products, compositions, systems, and methods for modifying a target structure which mediates or is associated with a biological activity, including treatment of conditions, disorders, or diseases mediated by or associated with a target structure, such as a virus, cell, subcellular structure or extracellular structure. The methods may be performed in situ in a non-invasive manner by placing a nanoparticle having a metallic shell on at least a fraction of a surface in a vicinity of a target structure in a subject and applying an initiation energy to a subject thus producing an effect on or change to the target structure directly or via a modulation agent. The nanoparticle is configured, upon exposure to a first wavelength λ.sub.1, to generate a second wavelength λ.sub.2 of radiation having a higher energy than the first wavelength λ.sub.1. The methods may further be performed by application of an initiation energy to a subject in situ to activate a pharmaceutical agent directly or via an energy modulation agent, optionally in the presence of one or more plasmonics active agents, thus producing an effect on or change to the target structure. Kits containing products or compositions formulated or configured and systems for use in practicing these methods.

Wireless charging of sensor device for diagnosis and monitoring
This application describes a novel approach of wireless charging or powering of a sensor-based device used for in vivo diagnosis and monitoring. In addition to implantable or subcutaneous devices, this approach can also be used for wireless charging of wearable and handheld devices. Specifically, this application describes charging of diagnostic and monitoring devices used for disease detection and management. More specifically, this application describes a method to wirelessly power integrated devices designed to detect or monitor analytes (e.g. biological or chemical species) and release drugs into the body in response to a specific change in the body's vitals, detected by the device.
METHODS, DEVICES, AND SYSTEMS FOR NON-INVASIVE DELIVERY OF MICROWAVE THERAPY
Methods, apparatuses and systems are provided for non-invasive delivery of microwave therapy. Microwave energy may be applied to epidermal, dermal and subdermal tissue of a patient to achieve various therapeutic and/or aesthetic results. In one embodiment, the microwave energy is applied to a target tissue via an energy delivery applicator connected to an energy generator. The energy delivery applicator may comprise one or more antennas, including monopole, dipole, slot and/or waveguide antennas (among others) that are used to direct the microwave energy to the target tissue. The energy delivery applicator may also comprise a cooling element for avoiding thermal destruction to non-target tissue and/or a suction device to localize thermal treatment at specific portions of a skin fold.
