Pain relief utilizing polymer based materials or a combination of LED bulbs and polymer based materials to create a near field accelerator
A pain relief device and method or system to aid in the resolution of pain in a body including at least one layer of PVDF film and at least one other layer for directional purposes, as well as a polarizing layer. The device can be packaged in various ways. Also described is a device that uses a combination of LED bulbs, polymer based materials and a near field accelerator to provide pain relief.
Device for treatment of body tissue
The invention relates to a device (17) for treatment of body tissue, in particular for the permanent occlusion of varicose veins, preferably in the lower limbs, of varicocele and/or of vascular malformations and/or for the use in aesthetic surgeries, preferably laser assisted lipolysis, and/or for tumor treatment by means of laser induced thermotherapy and/or photodynamic therapy, by means of a light diffuser (13) circumferentially and endoluminally irradiating said tissue by laser light energy, said diffuser (13) being connected at its proximal end to a source (10) of laser light energy via a flexible wave guide (12) comprising a fiber optic core (1) covered by an optical cladding (2) having a refractive index smaller than that of the core (1), wherein in the cladding (2) and/or in the core (1) imperfections (18) are provided, designed as recesses and adapted to direct the light, preferably to refract and/or reflect the light propagating within the core (1) and/or its optical cladding (2) in generally radial directions, wherein a cap (7) transparent to the laser light enclosing the distal end of the core (1) and its optical cladding (2) in a fluid tight and/or liquid tight manner is provided. According to the invention the device (17) is characterized in that the outer surface (19) of said optical cladding (2) is fused in the region (A) between said imperfections (18) to the inner surface (21), preferably the inner diameter, of the cap (7) and/or in that the outer surface (19) of said optical cladding (2) extending over a distance in front and/or behind the region (A) provided with the imperfections (18) is fused to the inner surface (21), preferably the inner diameter, of the cap (7).
Methods for photodynamic therapy
A method of enhancing penetration of a topical composition of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) into tissue for photodynamic therapy includes topically applying ALA to a treatment area to be treated with photodynamic therapy. The method further includes, after the ALA is applied to the treatment area, covering the treatment area with a low density polyethylene barrier. The treatment area is covered with the low density polyethylene barrier prior to light treatment to minimize transepidermal water loss from the treatment area.
Flexible Photobiomodulation and Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy Device
The present disclosure provides a combined Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy and Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapeutic device in the form of a flexible wearable that can be secured to a user's body part to apply targeted radiation to a desired area. The frequencies and pulse patterns of both types of radiation are controlled by a single controller of the device which can switch between a number of pre-set sequences and patterns. The device is wirelessly enabled to allow control via an external user device.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF TREATING PAIN WITH EXTERNAL TRANS-ZYGOMATIC ARCH PHOTIC STIMULATION
The invention is method comprising the use of an external photic stimulator treat and/or prevent pain in a subject, such as migraine headache, dental pain, and/or other sources of cranial pain. The presently disclosed method includes treating the pain externally through the cheek, over the zygomatic arch and area of the trigeminal ganglion. The external photic stimulation is believed to inhibit excessive firing of trigeminal ganglion circuits, preventing the excessive expression of calcitonin gene-related peptides and/or other inflammatory manifestations of the pain.
METHODS TO RESCUE LIGHT SENSITIVITY IN RETINAS AFTER PHOTORECEPTOR DEGENERATION
The present invention is directed to the use of gold nanoparticles to enable vision in the visually impaired. Retinal neurons remain functional despite photoreceptor degeneration. These neurons can be made light-sensitive to produce action potentials, by gold nanoparticles conjugated to high-avidity ligands for a variety of cellular targets. Once bound to a neuron, these particles transduce millisecond pulses of light into heat, which changes membrane capacitance, depolarizing the cell and eliciting action potentials. The technology described herein along with a camera and decoder can be used to aid the visually impaired by stimulating cells to send the appropriate messages to the visual cortex.
Method, system and apparatus for automated termination of a therapy for an epileptic event upon a determination of effects of a therapy
A method comprising detecting an epileptic event in a patient; applying an electrical therapy to a first target area in at least one of a brain region or a cranial nerve of said patient in response to said detecting; receiving a body signal responsive to the electrical therapy, wherein said body signal is selected from an autonomic signal, a neurologic signal, a metabolic signal, an endocrine signal, or a tissue stress marker signal; determining whether said body signal indicates that said electrical therapy has an efficacious effect; and terminating the application of said electrical therapy if the response indicates that the electrical therapy has an efficacious effect. An apparatus capable of performing the method. A non-transitive, computer-readable storage device for storing data that when executed by a processor, perform the method.
