Thermoplastic composite
A method of making a flexible pipe layer, which method comprises: commingling polymer filaments and carbon fibre filaments to form an intimate mixture, forming yarns of the commingled filaments, forming the yarns into a tape, and applying the tape to a pipe body to form a flexible pipe layer.
VEHICLE GLAZING
A vehicle glazing according to this disclosure comprises a glass sheet or glass sheets, and an ultraviolet light sensor for sensing an amount of ultraviolet light transmitted through the glass sheet or sheets. The ultraviolet light sensor may be provided on a glass surface as to receive light transmitted through at least one of the glass sheets and may be formed with an indicator showing information of the interior UV status.
Thermoform windshield stack with integrated formable mold
A method of installing a stack of two or more lenses on a curved substrate includes placing a moldable coveting on a curved substrate, the moldable covering including a stack of two or more lenses, an adhesive layer interposed between each pair of adjacent lenses from among the two or more lenses, and a sacrificial layer disposed on an outermost lens of the stack, the sacrificial layer including a sacrificial lens and a sacrificial adhesive interposed between the sacrificial lens and the outermost lens of the stack. The method may include applying heat and pressure to the sacrificial layer and peeling off the sacrificial layer to reveal the stack of two or more lenses.
SELF-ADHERED ROOFING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to roofing systems. In some embodiments, the roofing system includes a deck, a roofing material, and an underlayment configured to be positioned between the roofing material and the deck. In some embodiments, the underlayment comprises a foil layer and an adhesive layer that is attached to the foil layer and configured to be attached to the deck. Methods of manufacturing roofing systems are also disclosed.
Laminate body and packaging bag using the same
A laminated body having at least two or more different layers, wherein the laminate body is characterized by satisfying the following requirements (1) to (5): (1) the laminate body has a heat-sealing layer as at least one of the outermost layers, wherein the heat-sealing layer includes a polyester based component containing ethylene terephthalate as a main constituent component, and a sealing strength of 8 N/15 mm to 30 N/15 mm; (2) at least one layer other than the heat-sealing layer is an inorganic thin film layer; (3) a water vapor permeation rate of 0.1 g/m.sup.2.Math.d to 6 g/m.sup.2.Math.d; (4) an oxygen permeation rate of 5 ml/m.sup.2.Math.d.Math.MPa to 30 ml/m.sup.2.Math.d.Math.MPa; and (5) a heat shrinkage rate of −5% to 5%.
Multilayer packaging materials with release of migratory active substances
Embodiments herein relate to multilayer films for food packaging including migratory active substances. In an embodiment, a multilayer packaging film is included with a first polymeric layer and a second polymeric layer, wherein the first polymeric layer directly contacts a first side of the second polymeric layer. The first polymeric layer can be directly bonded to the second polymeric layer via a welding process. The first polymeric layer and the second polymeric layer can each comprise the same thermoplastic polymer. Contact between the first polymeric layer and the second polymeric layer can be discontinuous defining a plurality of cavities between the first polymeric layer and the second polymeric layer. Other embodiments are also included herein.
Barrier films for packaging
A laminate film with moderate barrier properties can include: a machine direction oriented (MDO) blown polyethylene substrate laminated to a blown polyethylene sealant film, wherein the blown polyethylene sealant film comprises about 5 wt % to about 25 wt % of hydrocarbon resin. Preferably, a polymeric composition of the laminate film is about 90 wt % to about 100 wt % of polyethylene and hydrocarbon resin cumulatively.
Shielding device for shading and rain protection purposes
A shielding device for shielding against weather influences that includes a textile sheet material which is stretched two-dimensionally or can be rolled out and which forms a shield against weather influences, in particular, against solar radiation and/or rain. The textile material has warp threads and weft threads connected together in a lattice-like manner so as to form a fabric. A foam layer which has foam pores that are separated from one another by solid foam walls is applied onto the textile sheet material on at least one side of the textile sheet material.
RESIN COMPOSITIONS FOR OPTICAL FILMS
Compositions, laminates, films and/or composites made from thermoplastic polymers, such as thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) are described. The films have one or more optical layers made from materials that allow the transmission of visible light and reflect or absorb UV light. An optical film is made from one or more TPU resins including a first UV absorber of the benzotriazole family or the triazin family, a light stabilizer, and a second UV absorber selected from a group consisting of benzotriazoles, benzophenones, triazin or benzylidene malonate. The second UV absorber may be present in a base resin combined with the TPU resin. The optical film is capable of blocking at least 99% of light having a wavelength
MULTILAYER PULTRUDED STRUCTURE HAVING A CHEMICAL RESISTANT AND WEATHERABLE TOP LAYER
The invention relates to a multilayered pultruded structures having a weatherable cap layer over a pultruded substrate. The cap layer provides improved weatherability, chemical resistance and surface quality for pultruded structures. The cap layer is either an acrylic, vinyl or styrenic cap layer covered with a thin layer blend of polyvinylidene fluoride and acrylic polymers, or a cross-linked acrylic outer layer. A useful cap layer would be a UV resistant acrylic cap layer, such as a Solarkote® resins from Arkema, covered by a co-extruded blend of polyvinylidene fluoride, such as Kynar® resins from Arkema, with an acrylic resin, such as Plexiglas® resins from Arkema. The highly weatherable and chemical resistant pultruded structure is especially useful in window and door profiles.
