Layers of a recyclable packaging material can include a first layer of, or including, oriented polyethylene; a second layer of, or including, oriented polyethylene; a tie layer disposed between and joining the first layer and the second layer to one another; an ink layer printed onto at least a portion of at least one of an inner surface of the first layer or an outer surface of the first layer; a metallic barrier layer on at least a portion of at least one of the first and second layers; and an adhesive layer on at least a portion of an outer surface of the second layer and at least partially defining an exterior surface of the recyclable packaging material. A cold seal release coating can be on at least a portion of at least one of the ink layer or the outer surface of the first layer.

The finished tubing is treated for ultraviolet resistance. The tubing is tied off at a distal end with a proximal end connected to a pressurized irrigation source. Watering holes are created in the tubing at spaced intervals and the resulting water streams are directed into parallel plowed furrows. The tubing is completely recyclable. The tubing is formed by manufacturing tape for the woven outer tubing cover, stretching the tape along its length to strengthen it, weaving the outer layer from the tape, flattening the woven outer layer, extrusion coating each surface of the outer layer with LDPE, laminating the LLDPE inner layer to the LDPE, reversing and winding the tubing for storage and distribution.

OPTICALLY TRANSPARENT LAMINATED STRUCTURES HAVING HIGH TOUGHNESS

A polymer multilayer includes two or more laminated layers of ultra-drawn, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene or high density polyethylene. A transparent laminated structure may include such a polymer multilayer disposed between a pair of transparent substrates. The polymer multilayer may be configured to induce a compressive stress in a near surface region of each transparent substrate, which may improve the toughness and fracture resistance of the laminated structure. A photothermal dye may be incorporated into the polymer matrix and the compressive stresses may be achieved using photothermal actuation of the dye-containing polyethylene layers.
