MULTI-FILM THERMOPLASTIC BAGS HAVING HEM SEALS COMPRISED OF CONTINUOUS CONTACT AREAS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
One or more implementations of a multi-film thermoplastic structure include a first film having a first appearance in contact with a second film having a second appearance at one or more visually distinct contact areas, including a continuous contact area spanning a width of the structure. In one or more implementations the multi-film thermoplastic structure comprises a thermoplastic bag and the continuous contact area forms a hem seal near a top opening of the thermoplastic bag.
Enhanced Bag Drop Film and Packaging Using Oriented High-Density Polyethylene
In one example embodiment, disclosed is a polyethylene film, which in example embodiment(s) may comprise, consists essentially or, or consists of: (A) a core layer and a first tie layer on a first side of the core layer consisting essentially of: (i) at least about 20 wt. % olefin-block copolymer; (ii) at least about 40 wt. % low-density polyethylene; and (iii) at least about 40 wt. % high-density polyethylene, wherein “consisting essentially of” and “about,” among other words, are defined elsewhere in this disclosure; (B) a second tie layer on a second side of the core layer comprising, consisting essentially of, or consisting of: (i) at least about 20 wt. % low-density polyethylene; and (ii) at least about 40 wt. % high-density polyethylene; and (C) skin layer(s), be oriented in one or two directions; and contain additional layers external to the skin layer(s).
COMPOSTABLE LID INTENDED TO SEAL A CAPSULE AND A CAPSULE SEALED BY THE LID
A compostable lid intended to seal a beverage capsule is provided. The lid is composed of a multilayer complex successively comprising a non-woven material wherein at least 50% by weight of the fibers are composed of polylactic acid (PLA), an adhesive layer suitable for coming into contact with food, and a support layer composed of a vegetable parchment.
Bi-oriented, linear, low-density polyethylene film with improved sealing properties
Disclosed are compositions, methods, and uses for multi-layered films which are intended to provide high quality sealants having sufficient sealing strength for use in packaging and other applications while being more cost-effective and higher-yield than traditional combinations of unoriented polyolefin films and web materials. The film comprises a multilayer structure of LLDPE having a core layer, a surface skin layer, and a sealant skin layer. The core layer further comprises a slip agent, while the skin layers further comprise antiblock agents. Optional embodiments may include tie layers between the core layer and the skin layers, or may include pigments in one or more of the core layer or tie layers. The surface skin layer may be subjected to a surface treatment (e.g., corona treatment) to improve suitability for coating or metallization.
Polyolefin based multilayer film with a hybrid barrier layer
A multilayer film that includes at least a first polymeric layer comprising a polyolefin-based polymer and a second polymeric layer comprising a blend of a polar polymer and a silicon (Si) containing material comprising a silane having at least one alkyl group having at least 6 carbon atoms (C6) is disclosed. Methods of using and making the multilayer film is also disclosed.
Method for Preparing a Paper Web With a Composite Paper Mesh for Use to Produce Bags, and Composite Paper Mesh
The present invention discloses a method for preparing a paper band that incorporates a composite paper mesh, intended for the manufacture of bags for horticultural products, wherein the embodiment of the composite mesh comprises a process that includes dividing a paper reel (1) into continuous longitudinal strips (2-5), transversely segmenting a paper reel (6) to prepare cross pieces (7) which are applied on two longitudinal strips (2-5) parallel and spaced apart from each other, in successively distant positions along said strips and bonded by gluing, and applying on the support base grid structure thus obtained a mesh (10) of paper yarn which is joined to the support base by gluing, and that can be divided into portions that can be used for covering windows or openings included in the paper band, all this with the aid of automated means.
Films and bags with visually distinct regions
One or more implementations of a multi-layer film include a first layer non-continuously bonded to a second pigmented layer. The multi-layer film includes an unexpected appearance differing from the appearance of the pigmented layer. In one or more embodiments, the multi-layer film includes a metallic appearance despite the pigmented layer being devoid of metallic pigment. The multi-layer film also includes areas that are visually distinct from areas of the film with the unexpected appearance. The visually-distinct areas comprise areas in which the first layer non-continuously is in intimate contact with the second pigmented layer. The visually-distinct areas have the appearance of the pigmented layer or another appearance. One or more implementations also include methods of making multi-layer films and bags with an unexpected appearance and visually-distinct areas.
ETHYLENE INTERPOLYMER PRODUCT AND FILMS THEREOF
An ethylene interpolymer product comprises from 40 to 80 weight % of a first ethylene interpolymer having a molecular weight distribution index of Formula (I), and, from 20 to 60 weight % of a second ethylene interpolymer having a molecular weight distribution index of Formula (II), wherein said ethylene interpolymer product is characterized by a dilution Index, Y.sub.d, greater than 0, and, a solid-to-liquid transition temperature not greater than 112° C. The ethylene interpolymer product may be further characterized as having a weighted Rheological Adhesion Parameter, Rh.sub.adh, greater than 1.5. Films made from the ethylene interpolymer product composition have a hot tack seal onset temperature less than 90° C. and a hot tack window at 2.5N measured on a 2 mil blown film no less than 30° C.
Process for making pouches having strong transverse shrinkage
A process for making a shrink pouch having strong shrink tension in the pouch transverse direction and minimal or no shrink tension in the pouch longitudinal direction is provided. The process includes the steps of reinflating and cold-stretch orienting a previously collapsed blown film and feeding the cold-stretch oriented blown film in a flattened configuration into a side-fed pouch making machine, whereupon the longitudinal direction of the blown film becomes the transverse direction of the pouches thus formed, and vice versa. A shrink pouch having strong transverse shrink tension and little or no longitudinal shrink tension is also provided.
WATERBORNE ADHESIVES FOR REDUCED BASIS WEIGHT MULTILAYER SUBSTRATES AND USE THEREOF
The adhesive composition comprising emulsion polymers and microspheres and articles made therefrom are provided. The adhesive is particularly suitable for packages for consumer products that provide sufficient strength and thermal insulation while reducing the overall basis weight of the substrates.
