Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium including a thermosensitive coloring layer containing an electron-donating dye precursor, an electron-accepting compound, a radical polymerizable compound and a photoradical polymerization initiator, in which the radical polymerizable compound is a compound that is solid at 25° C., and the radical polymerizable compound is contained in the thermosensitive coloring layer in a state of encapsulating at least one of the electron-donating dye precursor and the electron-accepting compound.
Printhead Carriers and Adapters
Printhead carriers and adapters are disclosed. An example disclosed print mechanism includes an adapter to simultaneously couple a printhead assembly to both a logic circuit of a media processing device and a power source of the media processing device; a printhead carrier coupled to the adapter; and wherein a first connection, between data input connector and the logic circuit, and a second connection, between the power input connector and the power source, are maintained when the printhead assembly is removed from the print mechanism.

METHOD FOR CREATING CONTROL DATA FOR MULTI-COLOR DIRECT THERMAL PRINTING
A direct thermal printer prints on direct thermal printing paper, which has a thermo-reactive layer that can form two colors. A first color is formed at a first temperature, and a second at a second temperature, higher than the first. A printhead of the printer has heat sources arranged transversely to a paper path. Image data of an original image having at least the first color and the second color may be received. Control data may be created for the direct thermal printer for two-color printing of a print image. The control data has a plurality of print lines, and causes, for each print line for each heat source, either heating of the heat source to a printing temperature or no heating of the respectively heat source.

A medium includes: a heat-sensitive medium subjected to thermal printing; and an adhesive medium to be superimposed on the heat-sensitive medium in a thickness direction and bonded to the heat-sensitive medium. The heat-sensitive medium includes: a surface contacting the adhesive medium; a heat-sensitive medium base material having a transparency; and a first color producing layer having a transparency. The heat-sensitive medium base material has an uneven shape having roughness greater than that of the surface of the heat-sensitive medium. The first color producing layer is configured to produce a first color when heated to a temperature higher than or equal to a first temperature. The adhesive medium includes: an adhesive medium base material; and an adhesive layer provided on the adhesive medium base material. The adhesive layer makes contact with the surface of the heat-sensitive medium so that the adhesive medium is bonded to the heat-sensitive medium.

The first adhesive layer is provided on one surface of the second base material. The heat-sensitive medium and the adhesive medium are to be superimposed such that the first heat-sensitive layer and the first adhesive layer are interposed between the heat-sensitive medium and the adhesive medium. The adhesive medium has an ultraviolet absorbance greater than an ultraviolet absorbance of the first base material.

The heat-sensitive medium and the adhesive medium are to be superimposed such that the first heat-sensitive layer and the first adhesive layer are interposed between the heat-sensitive medium and the adhesive medium. The adhesive medium has an ultraviolet absorbance greater than an ultraviolet absorbance of the first base material.

A printing medium used for a thermal printer includes a heat sensitive medium and an adhesive medium, The heat sensitive medium includes a heat sensitive base layer and a first color layer, both of which has transparency. The heat sensitive base layer has a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface in a thickness direction of a thickness. The first color layer is formed on the heat sensitive base layer at a position closer to the first surface than to the second surface in the thickness direction, The first color layer loses transparency and is colored into a first color upon being heated. The adhesive medium contains pearlescent pigment. The adhesive medium includes an adhesive base layer and an adhesive layer stuck to the heat sensitive medium in the thickness direction and is positioned closer to the first surface than to the second surface.
