A tray is used in a printing apparatus that includes a conveying unit configured to convey the tray holding a printing medium, and a printing unit configured to perform printing onto a print surface of the printing medium held by the tray. The tray includes a placement surface on which a printing medium is to be placed, a pressing member that presses the printing medium placed on the placement surface towards a downstream side of an inserting direction of the tray with respect to the printing apparatus, and a regulating portion configured to regulate a movement of the printing medium by abutting the printing medium pressed by the pressing member.

An object of the present invention is to prevent printing processing from being performed in a case where a printing medium is not placed correctly on a tray because of an erroneous operation of a user, or the like. The present invention is a printing apparatus including: a conveyance unit configured to convey a tray on which a printing medium is placed; a printing unit configured to perform printing on a print surface of a printing medium on the tray based on a print job; and a first detection unit configured to detect a relative position relationship between the tray and a printing medium placed on the tray, and the printing apparatus has a first notification unit configured to give a notification of an error indicating that a placing position of the printing medium is not an appropriate position based on detection results by the first detection unit.

Provided is a technique that makes it possible to obtain the center of an optical disk with high accuracy. A detecting unit is made to pass over the hole formed at the center of an optical disk and to detect the position of the center of the hole, and an obtaining unit obtains the detected position of the center of the hole as the center of the optical disk. Then, a setting unit sets a print position for the optical disk based on the position of the center of the optical disk obtained by the obtaining unit.

Provided is a technique that makes it possible to obtain positional information for determining a print position depending on the type of print medium. A determining unit determines a process for obtaining information on the position of the print medium by using a detecting unit, depending on the type of the print medium. An obtaining unit obtains the information on the position of the print medium by changing the relative position of the detecting unit with respect to the holding unit holding the print medium, based on the process determined by the determining unit. Then, a setting unit determines a print position for the print medium based on the information on the position of the print medium.

A communication device includes a first holding unit which holds a disk-like first recording medium capable of storing information and a second holding unit which holds a second recording medium which is different from the first recording medium. The communication device further includes a request reception unit configured to receive a request for information indicating a recording medium which is usable by the communication device from a terminal device, and a transmission unit configured to transmit information indicating the first recording medium and information indicating the second recording medium held by the second holding unit to the terminal device when the request is received.

An ink-jet recording apparatus is provided, including a first transport section which transports a recording medium; a recording section which is formed with a plurality of nozzles and which records an image on the recording medium by discharging ink droplets from the nozzles; an interference member which is provided at a position separated from the recording section; and a control unit which controls the recording section so that only a part of the nozzles is used for a certain area of the recording medium.

A communication device includes a first holding unit which holds a disk-like first recording medium capable of storing information and a second holding unit which holds a second recording medium which is different from the first recording medium. The communication device further includes a request reception unit configured to receive a request for information indicating a recording medium which is usable by the communication device from a terminal device, and a transmission unit configured to transmit information indicating the first recording medium and information indicating the second recording medium held by the second holding unit to the terminal device when the request is received.

A captured image is obtained in which an adapter tray is captured which is fitted in a predetermined first area in a conveyance tray conveyed by a printing apparatus and has a second area fitted with a printing medium on which printing is performed by the printing apparatus. A shape of the second area is specified based on the captured image and information about the predetermined first area. Further, an image based on the specified shape of the second area is output.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing computer readable instructions that are executable by a computer is provided. The computer readable instructions, when executed by the computer running the image processing program, cause the computer to generate an image to be printed on a particular type of printing medium in a printing apparatus, control a display to display the generated image, set a printing mode to one of a regular printing mode and a trial printing mode, in the regular printing mode, generate print-image information to be used in the printing apparatus to print the image on the particular type of printing medium, and in the trial printing mode, generate print-image information to be used in the printing apparatus to print the image on another type of printing medium different from the particular type, and transmit the generated print-image information to the printing program.

A tray guide for guiding a medium tray holding a disk medium and being inserted includes arm portions, and as the tray guide is moved, the arm portions enter between a shaft of a sheet discharge roller and a spur stay while coming into contact with the shaft and the spur stay to push the spur stay upward with respect to the shaft so that spurs are separated from a roller portion to form a space through which the medium tray is to be conveyed.
