Printing using color changeable material

Systems and methods for printing data on a substrate including a color-changeable material are provided. One system includes a processing circuit and a device including an energy source. At least a portion of a printed publication is printed on the substrate using a commercial printing press based on fixed data. The device including the energy source is configured to add variable data to the substrate. The processing circuit is configured to receive the variable data and to control the energy source to change a color of the color-changeable material based on the variable data to provide at least a portion of the printed publication. The processing circuit is configured to control the energy source to change the color of the color-changeable material in-line with a flow of the substrate through one of a printing line, a finishing line, or a packaging line of the commercial printing press.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR GENERATING RFID LABELS USING AUTOMATED TAG ENCODING, AND VERIFICATION OF RFID LABELS POST GENERATION
20220067319 · 2022-03-03 ·

The present disclosure provides a system and method for generating RFID labels using automated RFID encoding, and verification of RFID labels post generation. In some aspect, generating RFID labels may be done using a label printer and an easy-to-attach RFID encoder. The RFID encoder may include an RFID controller coupled to a network, one or more antennas, a barcode scanner, and one or more optical detectors. As printed RFID labels pass through the label printer, the RFID encoder receives serialization data on the printed labels, which is translated into encode data by the RFID encoder and mask encoded into the RFID labels.

PORTABLE LABEL PRINTER

A portable label printer for printing content onto a surface of a label is provided. The label has a chip disposed therein. The portable label printer includes a main body, an RFID antenna assembly, a front cover unit, a back cover unit, and a print head module. The front and back cover units are disposed in the main body, and a paper exit port is formed between the front and back cover units. The RFID antenna assembly is disposed in the main body and adjacent to the paper exit port. The print head module is disposed in the main body and under the RFID antenna assembly. The label first passes through the print head module, and then passes through the RFID antenna assembly. When the label passes through the RFID antenna assembly, the RFID antenna assembly performs data reading or data writing on the chip of the label.

A wireless tag processing device includes a wireless tag reader-writer and a processor configured to acquire first and second sets of parameter values, control the reader-writer to transmit a radio wave using each parameter value of the first set and acquire a first intensity of a response wave from a wireless tag, when a highest first intensity satisfies a first condition, determine a parameter value of the first set corresponding to the highest intensity as a parameter value to be used by the reader-writer, and when the highest intensity does not satisfy the condition, control the reader-writer to transmit a radio wave using each parameter value of the second set and acquire a second intensity, and when a highest second intensity satisfies a second condition, determine a parameter value of the second set corresponding to the highest second intensity as the parameter value to be used by the reader-writer.

SUCCESSIVE MEMORY WRITES IN AN RFID INTERROGATOR

A high speed tabletop and industrial printer is disclosed with integrated high speed RFID encoding and verification at the same time. The industrial printer simultaneously prints on and electronically encodes/verifies RFID labels, tags, and/or stickers attached to a continuous web. The industrial printer comprises a lighted sensor array for indexing the printing to the RFID tags; and a cutter powered from the industrial printer for cutting the web that the RFID tags are disposed on. The industrial printer comprises two RFID reader/writers that are individually controlled. Specifically, one of the RFID reader/writers comprises the ability to electronically encode the RFID tags while the web is moving; and the second RFID reader/writer uses an additional RFID module and antenna on the printer for verifying the data encoded to the RFID tags. The printer provides for successive writes to various memory blocks and optimizes the communication sequence between the interrogator and tag.
