Methods for Reducing Contamination in a Biological Substance
Provided herein are materials and methods of reducing contamination in a biological substance or treating contamination in a subject by one or more toxins comprising contacting the biological substance with an effective amount of a sorbent capable of sorbing the toxin, wherein the sorbent comprises a plurality of pores ranging from 50 Å to 40,000 Å with a pore volume of 0.5 cc/g to 5.0 cc/g and a size of 0.05 mm to 2 cm and sorbing the toxin. Also provided are kits to reduce contamination by one or more toxins in a biological substance comprising a sorbent capable of sorbing a toxin, wherein the sorbent comprises a plurality of pores ranging from 50 Å to 40,000 Å with a pore volume of 0.5 cc/g to 5.0 cc/g and a size of 0.05 mm to 2 cm and a vessel to store said sorbent when not in use together with packaging for same.

Modulators of CFTR

CONDITIONED MEDIUM OBTAINED FROM PLACENTAL MESENCHYMAL STEM CELLS AND USE THEREOF IN THE THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT OF PREECLAMPSIA
The present invention relates to a conditioned medium (CM) which is obtained by culturing, in a liquid culture medium, placental mesenchymal stem cells isolated from the placental tissue of pregnant women who not affected by preeclampsia. The conditioned medium of the present invention includes at least IL-6, IL-8 and MCP-1 proteins. The conditioned medium of the present invention is effective for the therapeutic treatment of preeclampsia.

QUINAZOLINE SCAFFOLD BASED COMPOUNDS, PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
The present invention relates to novel heterocyclic compounds based on a quinazoline scaffold, which bind effectively to the mitochondrial translocator protein (TSPO), and counteract cell death processes. These compounds can also stimulate neuronal differentiation. The present invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions including such compounds, and methods of using these compounds for the prevention and treatment of brain damage resulting from brain injury, especially secondary brain damage due to traumatic brain injury (TBI). The compounds of the invention are also useful in preventing, treating, and curing brain damage due to neurodegenerative diseases, including underlying and associated pathological and mental disorders. The compounds can also be used to prevent and treat brain damage due to infection, toxic challenges, and excessive drug use, e.g., recreational, over the counter, or prescription drugs. These compounds can also prevent heart failure, for example associated with brain injuries and brain diseases.
