Printer

A printer can suppress paper lifting away from the platen surface even when conveying strong paper (regardless of paper strength) (a printer that can suppress paper uplift from the platen and is not easily affected by the type of paper). A printer 40 in which the platen surface 42a is on the inkjet head 21 side of a plane C through position A where paper 11 is held by a conveyance roller 36, and position B where the paper is held by a discharge roller, has: on the printhead 21 side of the plane C between the platen 42 and conveyance roller 36, at least one entry angle control unit 44 that contacts the paper 11 conveyed toward the platen surface 42a, and controls the entry angle of the paper 11 to the platen surface 42a; and on the printhead 21 side of the plane C between the platen 42 and the discharge roller 37, at least one exit angle control unit 46 that contacts the paper 11 conveyed in the direction away from the platen surface 42a, and controls the exit angle of the paper 11 from the platen surface 42a.

An image recording apparatus includes a recording section which is provided over a transport passage for transporting a sheet in a transport direction and which has nozzles for discharging an ink onto the sheet; a platen which is provided under the recording section with the transport passage intervening therebetween and which has a plurality of ribs provided to support the sheet while being separated from each other in a widthwise direction of the transport passage perpendicular to the transport direction, the respective ribs protruding upwardly and extending in the transport direction; and a plurality of holding members which are provided to be positioned between the plurality of ribs in the widthwise direction of the transport passage over the platen on an upstream side in the transport direction from the nozzles and which abut against an upper surface of the sheet and press the sheet toward the platen.

Liquid discharge apparatus and method of pressing medium

A liquid discharge apparatus (printing device) includes a support section that supports a medium, a discharge section that discharges a liquid onto the medium that is supported by the support section, a holding section (carriage) that holds the discharge section, and a pressing section (rollers) that can change the position to a first position for pressing the medium against the support section or to a second position for releasing the medium. The pressing section is placed within an area between the holding section and the support section at the first position, and is placed outside the area between the holding section and the support section at the second position.

A controller performs an ejection-timing setting process of setting, for each of first and second nozzle groups, ejection timing in scan printing in which a liquid ejection head ejects a liquid droplet while a head moving device moves the head in a scanning direction. The process includes: in response to receiving a first signal, setting ejection timing such that a time difference between ejection timing of the first nozzle group and ejection timing of the second nozzle group is first time, the first signal instructing printing such that a conveyance amount of a medium between successive two-time scan printing is a first conveyance amount; and in response to receiving a second signal, setting ejection timing such that the time difference is second time shorter than the first time, the second signal instructing printing such that the conveyance amount is a second conveyance amount smaller than the first conveyance amount.

A method is provided that is implemented on a control device connected with an inkjet printer, which includes an inkjet head having an ink discharging surface, a head scanning unit reciprocating the inkjet head relative to a recording sheet along a scanning direction parallel to the ink discharging surface, and a wave shape generating mechanism deforming the recording sheet in a predetermined wave shape that has tops of portions protruding in a first direction toward the ink discharging surface and bottoms of portions recessed in a second direction opposite to the first direction alternately arranged along the scanning direction, the method including acquiring gap information related to a gap between the ink discharging surface and each individual one of the tops and the bottoms on the recording sheet, and determining whether the gap information acquired for each individual one of the tops and the bottoms is abnormal.

Image recording apparatus

An image recording apparatus includes: a recording section configured to record an image on a sheet conveyed in a conveyance direction in a conveyance route; and an abutment member having a plurality of abutment portions which are arranged apart from each other in a width direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction so that the plurality of abutment portions abut against the sheet convened in the conveyance route respectively, and a connecting portion connecting adjacent abutment portions among the plurality of abutment portions. The connecting portion twists so as to rotate with the width direction as a rotation axis, under a condition that the plurality of abutment portions abuts against the sheet.
