Printing apparatus, printing method and a detaching roller apply a tension to backing sheet for detaching print labels from the backing sheet
A printing apparatus includes a transport roller applying a transport force to a label sheet having a backing sheet to which a label is attached, a printing head performing printing on the label sheet, a detaching roller configured to apply to the backing sheet a tension for detaching the label from the backing sheet at a detaching unit that detaches the label from the backing sheet and apply a transport force to the backing sheet from which the label was detached, and a control unit controlling the transport roller and the detaching roller, wherein the control unit controls driving of the transport roller and the detaching roller such that a front tension, which is a tension applied to the label sheet at the position of the transport roller, when the label sheet is back-fed to upstream in the transport path, is smaller than a front tension when the label sheet is front-fed to downstream.

PRINTERS
Example implementations relate to a printer comprising at least one printhead, carried by a carriage, to print onto a substrate, a surface to support the substrate; the surface comprising a plurality of platens associated with an elongate member; each platen having an upper planar surface forming part of the surface for supporting the medium and being adjustable to vary a characteristic of the upper planar surface to influence a distance between the upper planar surface and the at least one printhead.
SENSOR SUPPORT
A sensor support, as well as a platen and printer for use with the sensor support. The sensor support comprising a first section and a second section. The first section is capable of receiving a sensor. The first section and the second section are associated together such that there is at least a degree of freedom of movement of the first section relative to the second section. The sensor support further comprises biasing means to urge the first section away from the second section.

Inkjet recording apparatus
An image forming apparatus may include a mechanism for forming a corrugated shape in a sheet to be conveyed. The mechanism may include various components include one or more pressing portions, one or more ribs, one or more discharge rollers, a switching mechanism and the like. In one arrangement, ribs and pressing portions configured to create the corrugated shape may be disposed at various locations upstream or downstream of the platen, recording portion and/or nozzles thereof. In one example, pressing portions may be disposed both upstream and downstream of the nozzles of the recording portion to maintain a corrugated shape in the conveyed sheet. Various other configurations may be used.

Image recording apparatus
An image recording apparatus for recording an image on a sheet includes a recording section which records the image on the sheet in a transport passage for transporting the sheet in a transport direction and multiple plates which are spaced apart from each other in a widthwise direction. These multiple plates include a first type of plate and a second type of plate. Plates of a first type of plate are configured to overlap a sheet when viewed in a direction perpendicular to the transport direction and the widthwise direction, while plates of the second type of plate do not.

Image recording apparatus
An image recording apparatus includes a recording section which is provided over a transport passage for transporting a sheet in a transport direction and which has nozzles for discharging an ink onto the sheet; a platen which is provided under the recording section with the transport passage intervening therebetween and which has a plurality of ribs provided to support the sheet while being separated from each other in a widthwise direction of the transport passage perpendicular to the transport direction, the respective ribs protruding upwardly and extending in the transport direction; and a plurality of holding members which are provided to be positioned between the plurality of ribs in the widthwise direction of the transport passage over the platen on an upstream side in the transport direction from the nozzles and which abut against an upper surface of the sheet and press the sheet toward the platen.
