PRINTING APPARATUS AND CONVEYANCE CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

A printing apparatus includes a feeding unit, a conveyance unit, a cutting unit, and a control unit. The conveyance unit nips the print medium conveyed from the feeding unit by a first roller and a second roller, and conveys the nipped print medium. The cutting unit cuts the print medium. The control unit: (1) performs control to make a command speed of the first roller lower than a command speed of the second roller until a printhead printing reaches near a trailing edge of a printing length after printing has started, (2) performs control to make the command speed of the first roller higher than the command speed of the second roller when the printing has reached near the trailing edge of the printing length, and (3) subsequently controls the cutting unit configured to cut the print medium.

There is provided a printing apparatus. A first roller nips and conveys, in a conveyance direction, a printing medium. A second roller nips and conveys a printing medium at a downstream side of the first roller in the conveyance direction. A print unit prints an image on a printing medium conveyed by the second roller. A control unit, until printing by the print unit reaches a vicinity of a trailing end of a print length, sets a nip pressure of the first roller to a first pressure, and when printing by the print unit reaches the vicinity of the trailing end of the print length, sets the nip pressure of the first roller to a second pressure that is greater than the first pressure.

PAPER-BASED 3D PRINTING DEVICE AND PRINTING METHOD

The present invention relates to a paper-based 3D printing device and a printing method. The paper-based 3D printing device comprises a printing platform, a three-axis linkage platform, a cutting head and an inkjet head. The printing platform is used for placing paper, and the three-axis linkage platform is arranged to, firstly, drive the cutting head to cut the corresponding paper along the contour of a preset model to form a cutting seam, and then drive the inkjet head to inkjet color toward the cutting seam along the contour of the preset model. The paper-based 3D printing device and the printing method save ink, and can directly spray the ink at the cutting seam, which is equivalent to coloring the outer surface of the model, effectively improving the coloring effect, making the coloring of the outer surface of the model uniform, eliminating the step of printing one by one.

Printer and method

According to one embodiment, a printer and a method can print information printed as a header without a reduction even when a gap from a printing head to a cutting unit is short. The printer includes the printing head, the cutting unit, an input unit, a storage control unit, a first printing control unit, a cutting control unit, and a second printing control unit. The printing head performs printing on a roll paper. The cutting unit is disposed on a downstream side in a conveyance direction of the roll paper from the printing head, and cuts the roll paper. The input unit receives an input of printing information. The storage control unit stores the printing information. The first printing control unit prints the printing information if a length in the conveyance direction of the stored printing information is equal to or more than a setting value. When receiving a cut request, the cutting control unit performs cutting if the length in the conveyance direction of the printing information is the setting value. The second printing control unit prints the printing information if the roll paper is cut.

Shape packing technique

A shape packing technique is introduced that can be applied in various applications such as automated print production. In an example embodiment, items that are to be placed into a target shape are sorted based on size to form item groups that include similarly sized items. Potential blocks including arrangements of one or more items are created from the sorted item groups. A placement solution is then generated by placing the potential blocks in the target shape using a recursive process that avoids redundant placement solutions until all of the potential blocks are placed or no other potential blocks are able to be placed. The placement solution can then be utilized, for example, to control a printer to print multiple images on a substrate and/or to control an automated cutting device to cut the substrate into multiple partitions according to the placement solution.

Label printer and cutter assembly

A system and method for stabilizing a substrate during printing of images and subsequent cutting of the printing images with the system. The system comprises a printer assembly and a cutting assembly for printing images on a print media and then cutting the images from the print media. The printer assembly and cutting assembly are positioned in the system such that the media is printed and cut before advancing further through the system. The system has a web feeding system having a plurality of pairs of levers for providing different amounts of pinch force to the web during the printing and cutting processes so as to retain the media in a substantially flat and stationary position for printing as well as cutting.

A print engine performs printing on a print medium conveyed by a conveyor. The cutter cuts the print medium conveyed by the conveyor. The first sensor is provided upstream of the cutter in the conveyance direction and detects a leading end and a trailing end of the print medium. The second sensor detects a conveyance amount of the print medium conveyed by the conveyor. The controller determines a print medium length that is a length of the print medium in the conveyance direction, based on the conveyance amount detected by the second sensor from when the first sensor detects the leading end of the print medium until when the first sensor detects the trailing end of the print medium, determines a cutting position of the print medium based on the determined print medium length, and controls the cutter to cut the print medium at the determined cutting positon.

A printing apparatus includes a platen roller that transports a medium, a print head that is disposed to face the platen roller and prints on the medium, a cutter that cuts off, from the medium, a printed portion on which printing has been performed by the print head, a drive that drives the platen roller, and a processor that controls the drive. After the printed portion is cut off by the cutter, the processor controls the drive such that the platen roller transports the medium in an ejection direction and holds the medium still. After an instruction to start next printing by the print head is received, the processor controls the drive such that the platen roller transports the medium in a reverse direction opposite to the ejection direction.

CUTTER AND METHOD OF SEPARATION FOR SHEETS PRINTED FROM A CONTINUOUS WEB SUSCEPTIBLE OF LONGITUDINAL DIVISIONS AND RELATIVE WEB

Separator cutter for printed sheets from a continuous paper web provides multiple longitudinal divisions of different working sections with a series of single or adjacent sheets. The sheets have respective print areas with texts and/or images, while the cutter includes margining knives and longitudinal dividing knives and an electronic control unit. The cutter operates with webs wherein, at the beginning of each working section, a printed image mark (Print mark) is placed at a distance of the print area and automatically sets margins and division cuts based on a corresponding working section. The cutter includes servo mechanisms for displacement of the margining and longitudinal dividing knives and a sensor for the Print mark. In response to a new working section, the servo mechanisms is activated by positioning the knives in transverse positions based on data from the new working section and referencing the transverse position of the Print mark.

PRINTING APPARATUS, COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM, AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING THROUGHPUT WHEN DIVIDING PRINT MEDIUM

A printing apparatus includes a divider disposed downstream of a print engine in a conveyance direction, and a controller. The controller causes a conveyor to convey a print medium until a planned dividing position of the print medium reaches a dividing position of the divider, when a first conveyance amount is larger than a second conveyance amount. The first conveyance amount corresponds to a print width for a printing process by the print engine. The second conveyance amount is calculated using a distance between a reference position and the dividing position and a distance between the reference position and the planned dividing position. After the planned dividing position of the print medium reaches the dividing position, the controller causes the divider to divide the print medium into first and second print media. The controller causes the conveyor to convey the second sheet to a printing position.
