SOIL INJECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

Embodiments of a method and a system are provided to create a uniform layer of a substance such as a hydrogel or other fluid substance underneath the soil surface with minimal or little surface disturbance to the plants, the plant roots and the soil located on or slightly below the applied surface area. It is to be clearly understood that various different embodiments may be employed to deliver a variety of different substances to the soil, and such substances may be gels or liquids. The presently preferred fluid substance is currently a hydrogel, and the present illustrated and described embodiment may be employed to inject hydrogel into soil but other fluid substances may be injected as well.

A vertical tiller comprises a rider disc or foot at the bottom of a helix or screw/auger, with the assemble further comprising angled winged appendages having angled sweep sections. The assembly further comprises a turned leading appendage. The turned leading appendage keeps the assembly relatively vertical to prevent the other appendages from fouling, cutting or entangling with cloth, wire or other elements often found at the bottom of planting pots, wire baskets and planting beds. The vertical tiller performs maceration and aeration within soil and provides a level of safety by the angled appendages that bounce off of a user's foot. The invention is well suited for remixing and amending soil and is intended for light soils having minimal rocks and large roots. The disclosed wing design assists having greater control over the tiller which is useful in selective tilling to promote soil biota.

Agricultural machine with a soil tillage tool and method for controlling a soil tillage tool

An agricultural machine for arrangement on a vehicle, wherein during movement of the machine in the travel direction an area of soil at least between plants arranged parallel to the travel direction in row crops can be tilled by the machine, wherein the machine comprises a soil tillage tool, which is pivotable back, counter to the travel direction, about an axis of rotation running in a height direction of the machine out of a transverse direction arranged perpendicular to the travel direction and perpendicular to the height direction and/or is movable towards the machine in the transverse direction, an obstacle sensor by which obstacles can be detected, and comprises a control device, wherein when an obstacle is detected the control device can pivot the soil tillage tool back out of the transverse direction counter to the travel direction and/or move it in the transverse direction towards the machine.
