A liquid discharge apparatus includes a rotator, a liquid discharger, a sheet-material position detector, a first signal output device, a second signal output device, and circuitry. The rotator carries a sheet material on a circumferential surface and conveys the sheet material. The liquid discharger discharges liquid onto the sheet material. The sheet-material position detector detects a position of the sheet material. The first signal output device outputs a first signal corresponding to a rotation amount of the rotator. The second signal output device outputs a second signal correlated with a movement amount of the sheet material on the circumferential surface of the rotator. The circuitry determines a discharge start timing of the liquid discharger from a detection result of the sheet-material position detector and the first signal, and generates a discharge timing of the liquid discharger from the second signal.

The use of the device may prevent back pain related to repeated loading and unloading of platen-based textile printing devices.

A recording device includes a transport unit, a recording unit configured to move in a first direction and a second direction which is an opposite direction to the first direction, an mounting portion, and a tube including a fixed end fixed at a position downstream of the mounting portion in a liquid supply direction and a movable end movable with respect to the fixed end in the first direction, the movable end being coupled to the recording unit. The tube extends in the first direction from the movable end and extends to the fixed end after being folded back in the second direction. The transport unit includes a transport roller, and a rotation detector configured to detect rotation of the transport roller. When the recording unit is in a retracting region in the first direction, an edge end of a fold back portion of the tube overlaps the rotation detector.

A recording device includes a transport unit, a recording unit configured to move in a first direction and a second direction which is an opposite direction to the first direction, an mounting portion, and a tube including a fixed end fixed at a position downstream of the mounting portion in a liquid supply direction and a movable end movable with respect to the fixed end in the first direction, the movable end being coupled to the recording unit. A transport item moves in a process direction to transport sheets of media. The transport item is positioned between an inkjet printhead and a receptacle. The inkjet printhead has nozzles. The transport item has openings arranged in a pattern, the pattern of the openings is consistent along all of the transport item, and the pattern of the openings in the transport item aligns at least one opening with each of the locations of the nozzles as the transport item moves in the process direction. The nozzles eject ink through the openings to the receptacle when the nozzles are aligned with the openings. When controlling the nozzles to eject ink through the openings to the receptacle, a controller can control the nozzles to simultaneously eject ink on a sheet of media while ejecting ink through the openings to the receptacle.
