In one example, a media support includes a platen and multiple suctions cups embedded in or an integral part of the platen. Some of the suction cups are arranged in a first part having a first density and some of the suction cups arrange in a second part having a second density less than the first density.

Modular machine arrangement for sequential processing of sheets

A press assembly has a plurality of processing stations for the processing of sheets. These processing stations are arranged in sucession in a transport direction of the sheets for inline processing of the sheets. At least one of these processing stations is a non-impact printing unit and at least one processing station downstream of the non-impact printing unit is embodied as a dryer. At least one additional processing station is embodied as a coating unit. The coating unit is configured for applying a coating in a form of a varnish to each sheet. A plurality of individually controlled, non-impact printing units are arranged along the transport path of the sheets. Each of the plurality of non-impact printing units is configured as an ink jet printer.

A customization system for an article of equipment includes a printing system for printing a graphic onto the article. The customization system also includes a cylinder for holding the article for printing a graphic upon the article. The cylinder can include one or more recesses in the outer surface of the cylinder to accommodate the article. A partial vacuum applied to the article when disposed within the recess through ports in the bottom surface of the recess holds the article in place within the recess while the cylinder rotates during printing. A gasket can be included between the recess in the cylinder and the article to provide an airtight seal to hold the article in place.

A digital printing press including a printing cylinder configured to transport a sheet, a driving device (41) configured to drive the printing cylinder, an encoder (44) configured to detect the phase of the printing cylinder, and first to fourth inkjet heads configured to print the sheet. The digital printing press includes a floating detector facing the printing cylinder and configured to detect an abnormality of the sheet, a display device, and a control device configured to control an operation of the driving device. The control device includes a function of stopping the driving device when the floating detector detects a floating portion. The control device includes a function of obtaining information specifiable a position of an abnormality occurrence portion based on the phase of the printing cylinder when the floating detector detects the floating portion and the phase of the printing cylinder when the driving device stops after floating detection and displaying the information on the display device. The digital printing press is capable of quickly specifying an abnormality occurrence portion detected during printing.

A printing press includes a printing cylinder, inkjet heads, and an ink drying lamp. A non-metal sheet is attached to an outer surface of the printing cylinder. The non-metal sheet includes a main body made of a non-metal material in a sheet-like shape, and a plurality of ventilation portions through which air passes in a thickness direction of the main body. This makes it possible to efficiently dissipate heat of the printing cylinder while preventing the printing cylinder from being overheated when an amount of heat generated at the time of printing is transferred to the surface of the printing cylinder.
