APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING A SUBSTRATE ON A SUPPORT BODY
An apparatus is provided for processing a substrate on a support body. The apparatus comprises the support body, at least one registration member, a carriage unit and a controller. The support body is arranged for supporting the substrate. The at least one registration member is adapted for registering the substrate on the support body by engaging the substrate in contact to the at least one registration member, when the at least one registration member is arranged into a registering state. The carriage unit is movably arranged relative to the support body for processing the substrate. The control unit is arranged for executing the steps of: a) selecting a position of the substrate on the support body; b) selecting a first registering position on the support body of a first registration member for registering the substrate at the selected position on the support body in the registering state, when engaging the substrate in contact with the first registration member being arranged in the first registering position; and c) moving the carriage unit relative to the support body to a processing position for processing the substrate, when the substrate is registered at the selected position on the support body by engaging the substrate in contact with the first registration member, which is arranged in the registering state in the first registering position.
Inspecting chart and printing apparatus
Disclosed is an inspecting chart including a reference pattern containing a first line segment group and a second line segment group, a first-side deviation pattern, and a second-side deviation pattern. The first line segment group is formed by a plurality of first line segments printed by a reference printing head at a first given interval. The second line segment is formed by second line segments printed by a printing head on a center between two adjacent first line segments or a center of each of the first line segments, the printing head being spaced away from the reference printing head in the transportation direction of a print medium. The first-side deviation pattern and the second-side deviation pattern are printed with various deviations.

Use of a sense mark to control a printing system
A printing system includes a first imaging unit configured to print a first image and a single registration mark associated with the first image on a substrate contemporaneously during a production run, and a sensor configured to detect the registration mark at a point where the registration mark is within a second imaging unit. The printing system further includes a controller configured to calculate an offset along a width direction of the substrate based on the single registration mark and to instruct the second imaging unit to print the second image on the substrate. The second image is shifted in its entirety in accordance with the calculated offset and is printed on the same side of the substrate as the first image.
INK-JET PRINTING APPARATUS AND INK-JET PRINTING METHOD USING THE SAME
An ink-jet printing apparatus includes: a stage on which a substrate including first and second alignment marks is mounted; an ink-jet head part discharging ink; a mark measuring part measuring a first coordinate of each of the first and second alignment marks during a first compensation period, the mark measuring part measuring a second coordinate of the first alignment mark during a second compensation period; and a substrate fixing part holding the substrate. The substrate fixing part performs a first operation to move the substrate such that the first coordinates of the first and second alignment marks in a first direction align with each other during the first compensation period, and performs a second operation to move the substrate according to a result obtained by comparing the second coordinate of the first alignment mark with a reference coordinate of the first alignment mark during the second compensation period.

SKEW CORRECTION DEVICE, MEDIUM PROCESSING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD FOR SKEW CORRECTION DEVICE
An skew correction device includes a registration roller pair, a driving unit that drives the registration roller pair, an electromagnetic clutch that stops the registration roller pair in an activated state and releases the registration roller in a disconnected state, and the driving unit drives the registration roller pair with a first output when the registration roller pair transports the medium, and performs driving with a second output smaller than the first output in the activated state. As a result, skew correction of the medium is performed in a state in which a backlash is eliminated.

SHEET CONVEYING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A first conveying mechanism conveys a sheet. A correction member is provided more on an upstream side of a conveying direction of the sheet than the first conveying mechanism, and includes a contact surface that comes into contact with a side end of the sheet at one end of a conveying path of the sheet in a width direction. A first orientation adjustment mechanism is operated by being input with a drive signal and changes an angle of the contact surface. A second conveying mechanism is provided more on the upstream side of the conveying direction than the correction member, and conveys the sheet toward the contact surface along a direction oblique with respect to the conveying direction. A support member supports the correction member and the first orientation adjustment mechanism. A second orientation adjustment mechanism is capable of changing an orientation of the support member by being operated manually.
