The controller is configured to perform: a conveying process to convey the printing medium from the printing portion to the cutter portion; a cutting process to cut the printed printing medium; an acquisition process to acquire the control information from the cassette; a determination process to determine a reverse conveyance amount of the printing medium based on the control information; and a reverse conveying process to convey a remaining non-printed portion of the printing medium from the cutter portion to the printing portion by the reverse conveyance amount determined in the determination process.

The adhesive medium includes an adhesive-medium base material and an adhesive layer provided at the adhesive-medium base material. The adhesive medium defines a width greater than a width of the heat-sensitive medium in a width direction thereof crossing the thickness direction.

A printer includes: a printing head; a conveyor; a cutter for cutting the medium to provide a segmented medium; a discharge roller; a counter roller; a sensor for detecting whether the segmented medium remains between the discharge roller and the counter roller; and a controller configured to perform: setting an operation mode to one of a first mode and a second mode depending on a medium kind; controlling the printing head and the conveyor to perform a first print control on the medium; controlling the sensor to detect whether the segmented medium has been removed; and permitting a second print control to be performed. When the operation mode is the first mode, the second print control is permitted after the sensor detects whether the segmented medium has been removed. When the operation mode is the first mode, the second print control is permitted without controlling the sensor.

A printing device includes a printing cassette, and a platen roller. The printing cassette includes: a print tape; an input part into which a drive force is to be inputted; an output part rotatable about a rotational axis extending in a first direction; a transmission mechanism for transmitting the drive force from the input part to the output part; and a case. The case houses therein at least a part of the print tape, at least a part of the input part, at least a part of the output part, and at least part of the transmission mechanism. At least a part of the output part is positioned outside the case. The output part is positioned inside an outer edge of the case in a projection view where the output part and the case are projected onto a plane perpendicular to the first direction.
TAPE CASSETTE
A tape cassette that includes a housing having a front wall and a tape feed exit located on the front wall, a tape included at least partially within the housing, and a pressing portion and a first non-pressing portion on the front wall. The pressing portion and the first non-pressing portion are positioned to oppose tape type detecting switches of the label printer when the cassette is in the label printer. The pressing portion is configured to change a state of an opposing one of the tape type detecting switches, and the first non-pressing portion is configured to avoid changing a state of an opposing one of the tape type detecting switches. The first non-pressing portion is a planar area of the front wall extending in a tape width direction from a top surface of the housing to a bottom surface of the housing.
RECORDING APPARATUS
A recording apparatus includes an apparatus body that includes a recording unit that performs recording on a medium, a medium cassette configured to slide in a first direction, and a second direction, a frame forming a plane that is along a lateral face of the apparatus body, and a support column portion located at an end of the frame in an apparatus width direction intersecting with the slide directions of the medium cassette and extending in a height direction of the apparatus body. The frame forms the plane that is along the lateral face of the apparatus body at a second direction side. The medium cassette has, at an end in the second direction, a protruding portion that protrudes in the second direction. An accommodating portion configured to accommodate the protruding portion is formed in the support column portion.
Medium cassette
A roll medium is accommodated in a medium cassette. The roll medium has a configuration where a continuous medium is rolled in a roll shape. The roll medium rotates in a direction that the roll medium is unrolled as the continuous medium unrolled from the roll medium is conveyed in a conveying direction away from the roll medium. The medium case includes a supporter which rotatably supports the roll medium in contact with an outer peripheral surface of a lower part of the roll medium in at least one support position on each of both sides between which a lower end of the roll medium is sandwiched, and a passage through which the continuous medium unrolled from the roll medium passes. The passage is formed below at least the support position located on a most downstream side with respect to the conveying direction.

A cartridge, that can reduce the diameter of a winding core, to be installed in a tape printing device includes: a cartridge case that constitutes an outer shell of the cartridge and accommodates a printing tape, a tape core on which the printing tape is wound, an ink ribbon, and a winding core; a core concave part on the cartridge case and into which a core convex part is inserted from a back side in an installation direction when the cartridge is installed in a cartridge installation part; and a cartridge-side first engagement part and a cartridge-side second engagement part that engage a device-side first engagement part and a device-side second engagement part, respectively, when the core convex part is inserted into the core concave part to change a state of a torque switching mechanism from a second to a first state or from the first to the second state.
CASSETTE INCLUDING PRESSURE PORTION FOR SWITCHING ROTATION SPEED OF PLATEN ROLLER UPON ATTACHMENT OF CASSETTE TO PRINTING DEVICE
A cassette is detachably attachable to a printing device in a first direction, the printing device including a print head, a platen roller, a motor for generating a driving force to rotate the platen roller, and a power transmission portion for transmitting the driving force to the platen roller. The cassette includes a printing tape, a casing accommodating the printing tape, and a pressure portion. Upon attachment of the cassette to a cassette receiving portion of the printing device, the pressure portion is configured to move a specific gear of the power transmission portion in the first direction to allow the power transmission portion to mechanically switch a ratio of a rotation number of the platen roller to a rotation number of the motor in accordance with a position of the specific gear in the first direction.

A printing apparatus including: a first roller mechanism including: a first shaft part having a first gear; and a first roller in which the first shaft part is inserted; and a second roller mechanism including: a movable holder configured to be moved in directions coming close to and being separated from a printing medium by a displacement mechanism; a second shaft part which is rotatably supported on the movable holder and having a second gear; a second roller in which the second shaft part is inserted, tiltable with respect to a shaft center of the second shaft part, and having an engaging groove recessed in an inner peripheral surface of an intermediate part of the second roller in a shaft center direction; and a protrusion protruding from an outer peripheral surface of the second shaft part and engaged with the engaging groove of the second roller.
