The printing apparatus further comprises a first media sensor positioned in a first plane in the printing apparatus. Further, the printing apparatus comprises a second media sensor positioned in a second plane in the printing apparatus. Additionally, the printing apparatus comprises a first media guide defining a section of the media path, wherein extremities of the first media guide are positioned to be at a negative offset from the second plane.

PRINTING ON A FLEXIBLE PRINT MEDIUM

A method to advance a print medium, for example a flexible print medium, through a print zone of a printing device is described. A carrier is fed from a carrier supply. The carrier has an adhesive surface. A print medium is engaged with the adhesive surface of the carrier. The carrier with the engaged print medium is advanced to the print zone.

A printer includes a medium supplier including a shaft support, to which a supply shaft of a roll medium is detachably attached, a medium temporary placement support located below the shaft support of the medium supplier and that receives and supports the roll medium prior to being attached to the medium supplier, and a conveyor that conveys a medium in a conveyance direction that is perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to an axial direction of the supply shaft, the medium being unwound from the supply shaft. The medium temporary placement support includes a support bar that extends in the axial direction, and a placement seat supported by the support bar. The placement seat includes a placement surface on which the roll medium is placed and that extends in the conveyance direction, and a curved portion that includes a convex curve in an upstream end portion of the placement surface in the conveyance direction.

Substrate de-skew in printing systems

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a printing system. In one example, the printing system comprises a print substrate supply mechanism and a conveyor belt. The print substrate supply mechanism is to supply print substrate to the conveyor belt and the conveyor belt is to advance the supplied print substrate. During a substrate loading operation of the printing system, the print substrate supply mechanism prevents motion of the substrate such that when the conveyor belt is activated the supplied substrate slides over the conveyor belt.

Printer with adjustable sliding plane

The invention relates to an ink-jet printer including: a support structure including two side walls; a transfer apparatus slidable for advancing the substrate in a direction x, the transfer apparatus comprising a conveyor belt and a stationary support plane; a print device including a print head operating along a direction y, perpendicular to the direction x; retaining means for maintaining the substrate adhering to the conveyor belt; and adjusting means of the transfer apparatus. The support plane includes two side ends which rest on the side walls. The adjusting means of the transfer apparatus include at least one side adjusting assembly positioned between a side wall and the respective side end of the support plane.

A paper compartment in which roll paper can be held has an opening positioned along the second axial end of the roll paper and a wall positioned along the first axial end of the roll paper in the axial direction. The paper loading member can be removably installed in the paper compartment through the opening. The paper loading member has a flange and a roll support member that projects from the flange and is inserted into the paper. When roll paper is held in the paper compartment, the paper loading member is installed in the paper compartment with a first side of the flange contacting the first axial end of the paper, and the roll support member is inserted into the roll paper. When the paper loading member is installed in the paper compartment, the first side of the flange faces the opening.

Method and apparatus for drying inks printed on heat sensitive absorbent article components

The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for printing and drying inks on substrates. Printing systems may include a metering device positioned between a printing station and a light source. During operation, the printing station deposits ink onto a substrate to define a printed region. And the light source directs infrared light onto the substrate to define an illumination zone. The printed region is advanced from the printing station to the metering device and from the metering device through the illumination zone, wherein the ink is dried with infrared light traveling from the light source, which also heats the substrate and changes the modulus of elasticity of the substrate. In turn, the metering device isolates the printing station from the change in the modulus of elasticity to help reduce phase shifts caused by changes in the modulus of elasticity resulting from heat in the substrate.

Medium conveying device, recording device, and method for determining skewing state of conveyance belt

There is provided a medium conveying device which includes a conveyance belt passed around a first roller and a second roller and configured to support and convey a medium on a supporting surface, and in which a controlling unit is able to execute first control to determine whether a first skewing direction and a second skewing direction are the same, the first skewing direction indicating whether, when the first roller and the second roller are caused to rotate in the first rotational direction, the conveyance belt moves toward one side or the other side in a width direction intersecting a moving direction of the conveyance belt, and the second skewing direction indicating whether, when the first roller and the second roller are caused to rotate in the second rotational direction, the conveyance belt moves toward the one side or the other side in the width direction.

An image forming apparatus includes a conveyor belt for conveying a sheet, a plurality of ink heads for fulfilling printing on the sheet, a sensor whose detection position is a position within a belt zone, a controller for halting the printing upon occurrence of jam, and a notification part for executing a notification process that urges cleaning of the conveyor belt. Upon occurrence of jam, the controller, based on an output signal of the sensor, decides for each one of the plurality of ink heads whether or not an ink head is a sheet-nonarrival head where an in-zone sheet has not yet arrived at a gap between the ink head and the conveyor belt, and given that there is no such sheet-nonarrival head, the controller keeps the notification part from executing the notification process.
