A method for a printer including a transport device including an endless transport belt, supported on a pair of support rollers which between them define a medium support plane, over which medium support plane a print station is provided. The method includes transporting in parallel a plurality of individual print media perpendicular to a scanning direction of the print station on the medium support plane, the print media having different dimensions, determining positions of the individual print media and based on the determined positions, jetting marking material for forming a designated image specific for each print medium on each respective print medium. The above steps are repeated such that print media are printed in a plurality of parallel lanes on the medium support plane perpendicular to the scanning direction. The method further includes enabling or disabling each individual lane of the plurality of parallel lanes in order to respectively facilitate or block jetting of the marking material at the individual lane.

An image forming apparatus includes a housing, a feeding tray inserted into and pulled out from the housing, an image forming unit, and first and second guide members. The feeding tray includes a first accommodation part in which a roll body having a configuration where a sheet-shaped medium is rolled in a roll shape is accommodated and a second accommodation part in which stacked sheet-shaped media are accommodated. The first guide member guides a sheet-shaped medium to a conveying path. The second guide member guides a roll medium unrolled from the roll body to the conveying path. The second guide member is movable between a guide position for guiding the roll medium to the conveying path, and a retreat position further distant from the first guide member than the guide position and where the second guide member does not interfere with a sheet-shaped medium accommodated in the second accommodation part.

An image forming apparatus includes a housing, a feeding tray inserted into and pulled out from the housing, an image forming unit, and first and second guide members. The feeding tray includes a first accommodation part in which a roll body having a configuration where a sheet-shaped medium is rolled in a roll shape is accommodated and a second accommodation part in which stacked sheet-shaped media are accommodated. The first guide member guides a sheet-shaped medium to a conveying path. The second guide member guides a roll medium unrolled from the roll body to the conveying path. The second guide member is movable between a guide position for guiding the roll medium to the conveying path, and a retreat position further distant from the first guide member than the guide position and where the second guide member does not interfere with a sheet-shaped medium accommodated in the second accommodation part.

A printing system and a method for printing a plurality of images on a first web and on a second web are disclosed. The printing system includes a print head, a feed unit for feeding both the first web and the second web simultaneously to the print head in a feed direction relative the print head, a wrap up unit for wrapping up both the first web and the second web simultaneously to form a first output roll and a second output roll respectively, a user interface configured to set a printing arrangement of the plurality of images on the first web and the second web and to input the print head, the feed unit and the wrap up unit for performing printing according to the printing arrangement by ejecting marking material on the respective webs. The printing system includes a prediction module for predicting a first diameter of the first output roll and a second diameter of the second output roll based on the printing arrangement. The prediction module is configured to establish a difference of the predicted first diameter and the predicted second diameter, and to provide to the user interface a warning when the established difference is larger than a predetermined diameter difference threshold.

A printing system and a method for printing a plurality of images on a first web and on a second web are disclosed. The printing system includes a print head, a feed unit for feeding both the first web and the second web simultaneously to the print head in a feed direction relative the print head, a wrap up unit for wrapping up both the first web and the second web simultaneously to form a first output roll and a second output roll respectively, a user interface configured to set a printing arrangement of the plurality of images on the first web and the second web and to input the print head, the feed unit and the wrap up unit for performing printing according to the printing arrangement by ejecting marking material on the respective webs. An image printing apparatus and a method of controlling the same are capable of appropriately correcting the conveyance amount in each of a plurality of conveyance paths. In a case of conveying a print medium along a first conveyance path, a controller controls the driving of a conveyance motor based on first information. In a case of conveying the print medium along a second conveyance path, the controller controls the driving of the conveyance motor based on second information, which is different from the first information.

An image printing apparatus and a method of controlling the same are capable of appropriately correcting the conveyance amount in each of a plurality of conveyance paths. In a case of conveying a print medium along a first conveyance path, a controller controls the driving of a conveyance motor based on first information. In a case of conveying the print medium along a second conveyance path, the controller controls the driving of the conveyance motor based on second information, which is different from the first information.

A printing system for printing a plurality of images in a first web and in a second web, includes a print head; a feeder configured to feed both the first web and the second web simultaneously to the print head in a feed direction relative said print head; a user interface configured to set a printing arrangement of the plurality of images in the first web and the second web and to input the print head and the feeder for performing printing according to the printing arrangement; and a print-pause module for stopping printing of the printing arrangement, the print-pause module being configured to: provide to the user interface a print-pause arrangement in which a print-pause is arranged in the printing arrangement upstream the feed direction with respect to both the print head and a first image whose printing is being performed in the first web when the print-pause module is selected; and cooperate with the user interface to input the print head and the feed means according to the print-pause arrangement to stop printing once printing of said first image is complete.

A printing system for printing a plurality of images in a first web and in a second web, includes a print head; a feeder configured to feed both the first web and the second web simultaneously to the print head in a feed direction relative said print head; a user interface configured to set a printing arrangement of the plurality of images in the first web and the second web and to input the print head and the feeder for performing printing according to the printing arrangement; and a print-pause module for stopping printing of the printing arrangement, the print-pause module being configured to: provide to the user interface a print-pause arrangement in which a print-pause is arranged in the printing arrangement upstream the feed direction with respect to both the print head and a first image whose printing is being performed in the first web when the print-pause module is selected; and cooperate with the user interface to input the print head and the feed means according to the print-pause arrangement to stop printing once printing of said first image is complete.

Method for cutting media from a multi-roll printing system, comprising the steps of: selecting one of a first medium and a second medium, which first medium and second medium are output in parallel with respect to one another from the multi-roll printing system; transporting the selected medium to a cutting media transport path spaced apart from a further media transport path in a traverse direction perpendicular to a plane of the cutting media transport path; and cutting the selected medium positioned at the cutting media transport path. The present invention further relates to a cutting assembly and a multi-roll printing system.
