Thermal transfer printer

A method for operating a thermal transfer printer includes providing a ribbon, providing at least one spool configured to take up the ribbon, and providing a printhead. The substrate is moved relative to the printhead at a speed. The ribbon is moved relative to the printhead at a speed that is less than the speed of the substrate while using the printhead to selectively transfer ink from the ribbon to the substrate to print an image on the substrate. Data is captured from the ribbon after ink has been transferred to the substrate. The data is processed to control at least one property of the printer.

A printing apparatus includes an discharging head which discharges liquid on a printing medium mounted on an endless belt; a transport unit which transports the printing medium in a transport direction; a medium press portion which is provided on an upstream side of the discharging head in the transport direction and includes a medium pressing unit which compresses the printing medium; and a control portion which controls the medium press portion.

Thermal print apparatus and method of controlling the same

Disclosed is a thermal print apparatus including a medium detection sensor arranged from a thermal head at a distance shorter than an outer circumferential length of the platen roller, and a controller. The controller determines that the print medium is wrapped around the platen roller if the print medium is not detected by the medium detection sensor even when the print medium is fed by a feed amount at which the leading edge of the print medium reaches the medium detection sensor after starting of printing on the print medium. In this case, the print medium is fed backward by reversely rotating the platen roller.

Printer

In accordance with an embodiment, a printer comprises a housing section and a printer section. The housing section houses a roll-like image receiving medium. The printer section comprises a print head, a platen and a discharge section. The print head prints information on the image receiving medium fed from the housing section. The platen is arranged opposite to the print head and rotates around a rotating shaft. The discharge section discharges the image receiving medium passing through a space between the print head and the platen. The printer section rotates around the rotating shaft independent of the platen.

Printer apparatus

A printer apparatus includes a print head, a platen roller, and a frame, wherein printing is performed on recording paper situated between the print head and the platen roller, wherein a projection is formed at a side face of the print head, wherein a side face of the frame has a groove formed therein for receiving the projection, wherein the groove includes a first area constituting an entrance to the groove, a second area for positioning the projection and formed such as to extend in a direction intersecting with a direction in which the first area extends, and a slanted part formed between the first area and the second area, and wherein the slanted part is an edge of the groove and extends in a direction different from both a direction in which the projection moves in the first area and a direction in which the projection moves in the second area.

Printer apparatus

A printer apparatus includes a print head, a platen roller having a rod, a spring configured to press the print head toward a direction of the platen roller, a frame having in a side face thereof a platen supporting groove for supporting the rod of the platen roller, and a detection switch, wherein the platen supporting groove includes a first edge situated toward a direction of the print head and a second edge situated opposite from the first edge, and has on the second edge a projection projecting toward inside the platen supporting groove, and wherein placing the rod of the platen roller at a predetermined position at a deeper side of the platen supporting groove than the projection causes the rod of the platen roller to press the detection switch due to an urging force that is applied to the platen roller by the spring through the print head.
