Methods of treatment for disease from coronavirus exposure
Disclosed herein are methods of treating a disease in a subject which is the consequence of previous exposure of the subject to a virus, particularly SARS-CoV-2, the method comprising administration of an effective amount of one or more agents to the subject.
Edds chelated nanoceria with catalase-like activity
A process for making nanoparticles of biocompatible materials is described, wherein an aqueous reaction mixture comprising cerous ion, ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid, an oxidant, water, and optionally citric acid, is provided along with temperature conditions to directly form within the reaction mixture, a stable dispersion of cerium oxide nanoparticles. Biocompatible nanoparticles comprised of cerium oxide, ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid, and optionally citric acid, are described. An increase in catalase-like enzyme activity is demonstrated by cerium oxide nanoparticles prepared with citric acid and ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid.
Microstimulation sleep disordered breathing (SDB) therapy device
An apparatus includes an implantable stimulator to treat sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and at least one electrode associated with the stimulator. The apparatus includes a therapy device arranged to be implanted within a head/neck region of a patient. The therapy device includes a microstimulator including a housing to encapsulate at least stimulation circuitry, a rechargeable power element, and a control portion including a therapy manager to control the stimulation circuitry.
Anti-inflammatory polypeptides
This invention concerns anti-inflammatory agents, compositions, and methods for treating inflammatory disorders.
1-[2-(2,4-DIMETHYLPHENYLSULFANYL)-PHENYL]PIPERAZINE AS A COMPOUND WITH COMBINED SEROTONIN REUPTAKE, 5-HT3 AND 5-HT1A ACTIVITY FOR THE TREATMENT OF COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT
1-[2-(2,4-dimethylphenylsulphanyl)phenyl]piperazine exhibits potent activity on SERT, 5-HT.sub.3 and 5-HT.sub.1A and may as such be useful for the treatment of cognitive impairment, especially in depressed patients.
METHODS FOR PREVENTING OR TREATING CERTAIN DISORDERS BY INHIBITING BINDING OF IL-4 AND/OR IL-13 TO THEIR RESPECTIVE RECEPTORS
The present disclosure relates to methods of treating, ameliorating or preventing a disorder comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a protein which inhibits the ligand of Uniprot #P05112 and/or the ligand of Uniprot #P35225 from binding to their respective receptors to a subject in need thereof. In some embodiments, the disorder is preferably associated with an increase of the Th2 immune response. In some embodiments, administration is preferably locally to the lung in order to treat, ameliorate or prevent allergic asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, lung fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis or adult respiratory distress syndrome.
Fc REGION VARIANT
A polypeptide containing an antibody Fc region variant which has an amino acid sequence in which an amino acid alteration at position 238 according to EU numbering is combined with other specific amino acid alteration(s), was found to have decreased binding activities to all activating FcγRs, in particular FcγRIIa (R type), while maintaining its FcγRIIb-binding activity, when compared to a polypeptide containing a native IgG Fc region.
1-[2-(2,4-dimeihylphenylsulfanyl)-phenyl]piperazine as a compound with combined serotonin reuptake, 5-HT3 and 5-HT1A activity for the treatment of cognitive impairment
1-[2-(2,4-dimethylphenylsulphanyl)phenyl]piperazine exhibits potent activity on SERT, 5-HT.sub.3 and 5-HT.sub.1A and may as such be useful for the treatment of cognitive impairment, especially in depressed patients.
Aminosteroids for the treatment of a PTP1B associated disease
This application is directed to the use of aminosteroid compounds for the selective inhibition of the enzyme PTP1B in a mammal for the treatment of diabetes.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR ACUTELY RAISING NITIC OXIDE LEVELS
Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for acutely raising nitric oxide levels in a subject. In one example, the composition can include, an effective amount of a NOS dependent source of nitric oxide; an effective amount of a NOS independent source of nitric oxide; and an effective amount of a myeloperoxidase inhibitor; wherein the composition acutely raises nitric oxide levels in a subject above a level provided by the available sources of nitric oxide in the subject prior to administration of the composition. Further presented is a method of treating a subject for a condition or disorder that is response to nitric oxide therapy, including: acutely raising nitric oxide levels in a subject by simultaneously increasing biosynthesis of nitric oxide, increasing nitrate/nitrite levels, and inhibiting meyloperoxidase activity.
