An ink jet printer includes: a print section; a container that houses a print associated member; an insertion port into which the container is inserted; an openable cover that openably covers a front surface of the insertion port; and a lock mechanism that locks the openable cover. The lock mechanism includes a through hole provided in the openable cover, and a displacement member provided in a cover-adjacent portion and configured to move between a locked position in which it engages the through hole to regulate opening movement of the openable cover and an unlocked position in which it disengages from the through hole to permit opening movement of the openable cover.

A printer cover locking mechanism has a reduced number of parts and may be assembled in a small space, by simplification of a print head (thermal head (13)) mechanism, a cover lock (27) mechanism relating to opening and closing of an opening and closing cover (3), and a heat dissipation mechanism for a print head (13). The cover lock (27) also serves as a heat dissipation plate. A printer cover locking mechanism includes the opening and closing cover (3) that opens and closes with respect to a printer housing (2). A print head (13) for printing on print paper (continuous label body (4)), a platen roller (14) for feeding a print paper (4) by sandwiching the print paper (4) between the platen roller (14) and the print head (13), and a cover lock (27) for causing the print head (13) to contact with and separate from the platen roller (14) by engaging with and disengaging from the platen roller (14), respectively. The print head (13) is attached on the cover lock (27), and the cover lock (27) is capable of dissipating heat generated from the print head (13).

DURABLE MOBILE PRINTER

Embodiments of the present invention provide improvements to printers including the use of engineered structures to limit bending, flexing, and/or twisting during impacts and the use of impact absorbing materials to prevent cracks and breaks. Design features and materials add to the rigidity of the printer design to prevent twisting and flexing during impacts and add to the strength of the printer design in typical breakage areas. For example, embodiments provide improvements that strengthen traditional break areas by the use of improved materials and design optimization to distribute impact forces. Embodiments allow the printer to maintain an operational status following a drop test and/or a tumble test.

Recording apparatus

A recording apparatus includes a plurality of medium containing units that is provided along a vertical direction and contains a medium before recording, a liquid ejecting head that performs recording by ejecting liquid toward the medium, and at least one liquid containing unit that contains the liquid. The plurality of medium containing units includes a first medium containing unit located at an uppermost position, and a second medium containing unit located below the first medium containing unit. A size of the first medium containing unit in a medium feeding-out direction, in which the medium is fed out, is smaller than a size of the second medium containing unit in the medium feeding-out direction, and the at least one liquid containing unit is provided above the second medium containing unit in such a way as to overlap with the first medium containing unit in a vertical direction.
