Printing system and method for transporting a print medium in a printing system
The invention provides a printing system with a transport mechanism for transporting sheets. The transport mechanism comprises: a conveyor body for supporting and conveying a plurality of sheets a transport path; suction means, and especially fan means, for generating an under-pressure at or adjacent to the conveyor body to hold the sheets fixed in position on the conveyor body as it conveys the plurality of sheets along the transport path; and a controller for controlling or regulating operation of the suction means to adjust the under-pressure generated. The controller is configured to control operation of the suction means based on delivery of the plurality of sheets to the conveyor body and/or a change in the delivery of the sheets to the conveyor body. Further, the invention provides a corresponding method of transporting sheets of a print medium in a printing system.
Detection device and recording apparatus
Disclosed is a recording apparatus including a recording head that performs recording with respect to a medium at a prescribed distance, a contact section that is capable of being in contact with the medium, a carriage that changes a relative location between the medium and the contact section, and an ultrasonic sensor that is capable of sensing an ultrasonic wave which is generated in a case where the medium is in contact with the contact section. The carriage changes the relative location such that a relative velocity between the medium and the contact section is over a prescribed value (transport velocity of the medium), and the ultrasonic sensor is capable of detecting a state of the medium by sensing the ultrasonic wave.
Printing layer in response to substrate contour
A method of printing a three-dimensional structure onto a base having irregularities on the surface is disclosed. A sensing device determines the depth of the irregularity on the surface. A computing system receives an image file including a predetermined thickness of a layer to be printed onto the base. The predetermined thickness is adjusted based on the depth of the irregularity. A printing device prints a layer onto the base having the adjusted predetermined thickness print on the irregularity to make the surface substantially smooth.
Tablet printing apparatus and tablet printing method
According to one embodiment, a tablet printing apparatus includes: a first conveyor conveying a tablet while holding a other surface of the tablet; a second conveyor conveying the tablet transferred from the first conveyor while holding a one surface of the tablet; a first print head performing printing on the one surface of the tablet; a second print head performing printing on the other surface of the tablet; a first detection mechanism detecting the one surface of the tablet; a second detection mechanism detecting the other surface of the tablet; and a controller sending a printing instruction to the first and the second print heads based on information related to the state of a split line included in detection information on the one surface of the tablet or detection information on the other surface of the tablet.
Liquid jetting apparatus and method of coping with floating of medium
There are provided a liquid jetting apparatus in which the deterioration of production efficiency is suppressed in a case in which the floating of a medium occurs, and a method of coping with the floating of a medium. A medium is fed; liquid is jetted to the medium, which is transported by a medium transport unit including a medium support surface on which the medium is supported and transporting the fed medium in a medium transport direction, by a liquid jet head; drying processing is performed on the medium, to which the liquid jetted from the liquid jet head adheres, at a position on the downstream side of the liquid jet head in the medium transport direction; and in a case in which the floating of the medium is detected at a position on the upstream side of the liquid jet head in the medium transport direction, the medium continues to be fed, the liquid jet head is moved to a retreat position from a liquid jet position, and the intensity of drying processing is suppressed in comparison with that in a liquid-drying processing-performing state in which drying processing is performed on the medium.
Device for detecting a position of a printing material transported in a printing machine
A device detects at least one position of at least a part of a printing material while the printing material is transported in a printing machine. The device includes an optical sensor for establishing a distance between a printing machine component and the printing material. The distance established by the optical sensor is temperature-compensated by a computer.
Pre-treatments for ink-jet printing
Disclosed herein is a print head arrangement, a printing device and a method of operating a printing device. The print head arrangement comprises a main print head having a plurality of printing nozzles for ejecting a printing fluid and an auxiliary print head having a plurality of pre-treatment nozzles for ejecting a pre-treatment fluid. The print head arrangement further comprises a controller that is to obtain a print medium parameter and to select a subset of the plurality of pre-treatment nozzles for application of the pre-treatment fluid based on the print medium parameter. The print medium parameter characterizes a thermal inertia of the print medium.
DENSITY MODULATED AUTO-DUPLEXING
A method for fluid-density modulated auto-duplexing is disclosed. This method determines when a final swath of a printing operation on a surface of a media occurs within a predefined distal end portion of the media. An estimated media dry time after the final swath in the predefined distal end portion is determined to be greater than a predetermined time. The estimated dry time is capped to a predetermined minimum media dry time and a course of action for a feed mechanism is selected to reduce curling and cockling of the media. Furthermore, a non-transitory computer readable medium and a printer having fluid-density modulated auto-duplexing are also disclosed.
Liquid ejecting apparatus
A detection unit that detects the presence of an object that can come into contact with a liquid ejecting unit with relative movement between a medium and the liquid ejecting unit is provided with a piezoelectric film sensor that outputs an electrical signal when the object comes into contact with the detection unit, where the detection unit has first, second, and third plate portions formed so as to be continuous, the first plate portion is fixed so that the second and third plate portions are cantilevered, and the second plate portion, in a state where the piezoelectric film sensor is mounted thereon, is continuous with the first plate portion and is disposed diagonally with respect to the vertical direction of the medium, and the third plate portion is bent from the second plate portion and faces the medium leaving a gap between the third plate portion and the medium.
DEFECT DETECTION FOR PRINT MEDIA
A duplex sheet printer comprising a first and second sheet quality detection device for determining a suitability of a sheet for printing. The first sheet quality detection device applies a first sheet rejection threshold to which sensed sheets are compared, while the second sheet quality detection device applies a second sheet rejection threshold different from the first. The controller designates sheets in the printing system to be sensed by one of the sheet quality detection devices in accordance with the sheet's media type or the sheet being on a simplex or duplex pass. Different rejection criteria are thus applied to the sheets without adjustment of a sheet quality detection device, resulting in high speed printing.
