Inkjet printing apparatus and method for controlling inkjet printing apparatus
10201991 · 2019-02-12 · ·

An inkjet printing apparatus includes a conveyer conveying a printing medium; an image former discharging ink on the printing medium; a mover relatively moving the image former and the conveyer; a first detector; a second detector; and a controller controlling image formation. The mover performs a first move operation to expand a distance between the image former and the printing medium and a second move operation to expose the conveying surface. Upon detection of an abnormal conveyance state of the printing medium by the first detector, the conveyer stops conveyance and the mover performs the first move operation. After stopping the conveyance and the first move operation, the controller checks for the contact of the printing medium and the image former during the second move operation based on the detection results at the second detector, and only if no contact is determined, the mover performs the second move operation.

PRINTING METHOD AND PRINTING DEVICE

A method and a device as provided for printing a large surface which is situated, in particular, on a substrate which cannot be fed to a printing device. The method is distinguished by the fact that the perpendicular spacing Azo of a reference point of the device at a plurality of points which are distributed over the printing web from the surface to be printed is determined in each case at the points which are distributed over the printing web, and the perpendicular spacing Az of the print head from the surface to be printed is set in accordance with a previously recorded measured value. Here, the plurality of points can be distributed uniformly over the length of the printing web. The device for carrying out the method has a measuring device for contactless measurement of the spacing between a reference point of the device and the surface to be printed. Furthermore, the device has a control unit for evaluating the measured values and producing control pulses for setting the spacing Az of the print head from the surface to be printed.

A liquid ejecting apparatus includes an ejecting unit capable of ejecting a liquid, a support unit configured to support a medium onto which the liquid is ejected and is movable in a movement direction between a set position where the medium is set and an ejecting start position where the ejecting unit starts ejecting the liquid, and a detector configured to detect whether an interference substance which is a substance that causes an interference with the ejecting unit is present on the support unit. The detector is movable between a first position and a second position, a distance between the second position and the ejecting unit being longer than a distance between the first position and the ejecting unit, in the movement direction.

Dynamic print media weight determination system and method

A printing device includes a print media pathway connecting a print media source with a marking component. A flexible member, positioned in the pathway, is deflected by a moving sheet of media to be printed by the marking component. A sensor system outputs a signal in response to a detected deflection of the flexible member. A weight output component outputs a weight-related value for the sheet based on the output signal. The weight-related value may correspond to one of a predefined set of print media weight ranges, each range associated with one or more respective settings for the printing device. An adjustment component adjusts the settings of the printing device based on the weight-related value. This allows the printing device to respond dynamically to changes in print media weight without the need to be provided with the weight of the print media currently installed in the printer by a user.

LIQUID JETTING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF COPING WITH FLOATING OF MEDIUM

There are provided a liquid jetting apparatus in which the deterioration of production efficiency is suppressed in a case in which the floating of a medium occurs, and a method of coping with the floating of a medium. A medium is fed; liquid is jetted to the medium, which is transported by a medium transport unit including a medium support surface on which the medium is supported and transporting the fed medium in a medium transport direction, by a liquid jet head; drying processing is performed on the medium, to which the liquid jetted from the liquid jet head adheres, at a position on the downstream side of the liquid jet head in the medium transport direction; and in a case in which the floating of the medium is detected at a position on the upstream side of the liquid jet head in the medium transport direction, the medium continues to be fed, the liquid jet head is moved to a retreat position from a liquid jet position, and the intensity of drying processing is suppressed in comparison with that in a liquid-drying processing-performing state in which drying processing is performed on the medium.

DETECTOR, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, READING APPARATUS, AND ADJUSTMENT METHOD

A detector includes a light source to irradiate an object with light, a sensor to image a first pattern and a second pattern formed on the object with the light irradiated by the light source to generate image data, the first pattern and the second pattern imaged by the sensor at different times, and a circuit to control the light source to adjust a light quantity of the light according to a type of the object and irradiate the object with the light quantity adjusted according to the type of the object, and calculate a relative position of the object between the first pattern and the second pattern.

Personal Care Device With Audible Feedback

A personal care device for modifying a keratinous surface having a sensor, a treatment element adapted to deposit a personal care composition, a feedback element, and a processor. The feedback element can be activated during deposition of the personal care composition. The personal care device can analyze a keratinous surface, identify keratinous imperfections, and then modify the keratinous imperfection by depositing a personal care composition. The feedback element can be intermittently activated during deposition and can emit a feedback signal that corresponds to the deposition of the personal care composition to alert the user as to how the personal care device is working and/or when the modification process is complete.

WASTE REDUCTION IN SHEET PRINTING SYSTEMS
20180345693 · 2018-12-06 · ·

When a sheet ejector ejects an unsuitable sheet from a transport path in a printing system, additional sheets downstream of said unsuitable sheet are generally discharged to preserve the image order as prescribed by the print instructions. This results in large amounts of waste material (sheets and ink). The amount of waste may be reduced by providing a controller which, when receiving print instructions concerning a first and a second set of images, schedules the images of the first and second sets into an alternating image sequence defining the print order. Sheets printed with images from the first set are designated to a first output holder while sheets printed with images from the second set are transported to the second output holder. When a sheet for the second image set is rejected, the first image set need not be discharged, resulting in a reduced amount of waste material.
