The present invention provides for compounds of formula (I)

Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising one or more compounds of formula (I).

The present invention refers to a new enzymatic process for obtaining 17α-monoesters of cortexolone and/or its 9, 11-dehydroderivatives starting from the corresponding 17α,21-diesters which comprises an enzymatic alcoholysis reaction. Such compositions and methods may also avoid the side effects associated with typical formulations of alpha-1-adrenoreceptor antagonists.
