A sheet processing device includes: a stacking unit configured to stack a plurality of sheets to obtain a sheet bundle; a stitched-sheet number acquiring unit configured to acquire a number of sheets in the sheet bundle, which is a target to be stitched; a permanent stitching unit configured to permanently stitch the sheet bundle; a temporary stitching unit configured to be capable of temporarily stitching a plurality of areas of the sheet bundle; a selecting unit configured to select any one of the permanent stitching unit and the temporary stitching unit to be used; and a stitching-process control unit configured to, when the temporary stitching unit is selected by the selecting unit, control the temporary stitching unit so as to change a number of areas that are stitched by the temporary stitching unit.

An example finisher includes a first portion extending in a vertical direction and including a height adjustment unit, a second portion extending from the first portion in a lateral direction and including a finishing unit to perform a finishing process, and a stacker to receive paper discharged from the finishing unit, the stacker extending in an opposite direction to the second portion in the lateral direction. The height adjustment unit is to adjust a height of the second portion from an installation surface and includes a base plate including a horizontal slot, a guide plate including an inclined slot, and a slide lever coupling the horizontal slot and the inclined slot.

The stapler includes: a guide plate in which a slot having a branch structure has been formed; a moving frame which is reciprocatively movable on the guide plate; a rotation frame which is rotatable on the moving frame and includes a plurality of levers mounted thereon, the plurality of levers moving along the inside and outside of the slot or change paths; a path change member which changes a movement path of any one of the plurality of levers; and a stapler which is mounted on the rotation frame and is in conjunction with the rotation frame.

A stapling apparatus capable of performing stapling on various positions by varying a moving path of a stapler is provided. The stapling apparatus includes a stapler, a driver configured to be coupled to the stapler and move the stapler, and a guide part configured to selectively switch a moving path of the stapler.

A portion of the fold of the recording material is interposed between the one or more recessed portions of the pressing unit and the one or more protrusions of the supporting unit, and another portion of the fold of the recording material is interposed between the one or more protrusions of the pressing unit and the one or more recessed portions of the supporting unit.

A recording material fold enhancing device includes a pressing unit that includes one or more recessed portions and one or more protrusions, and that presses a fold of a recording material; a supporting unit that includes one or more recessed portions and one or more protrusions, and that supports the fold of the recording material; and a driving unit that moves the pressing unit and the supporting unit along a direction in which the fold of the recording material is formed. A portion of the fold of the recording material is interposed between the one or more recessed portions of the pressing unit and the one or more protrusions of the supporting unit, and another portion of the fold of the recording material is interposed between the one or more protrusions of the pressing unit and the one or more recessed portions of the supporting unit.

A sheet processing apparatus including a stapler for executing a stapling process, a sheet detection sensor for detecting a sheet as a processing target, and an execution button for receiving from a user an execution instruction to execute the stapling process, after the sheet detection sensor detects a sheet, in a case where the execution button is pressed before a predetermined time elapses, causes the stapler to execute the stapling process according to the execution button being pressed, and in a case where the execution button is not pressed, causes the stapler to execute the stapling process according to lapse of the predetermined time. Further, the sheet processing apparatus sets whether the execution of the stapling process according to the lapse of the predetermined time is enabled.
