OPTICAL EFFECT LAYERS SHOWING A VIEWING ANGLE DEPENDENT OPTICAL EFFECT, PROCESSES AND DEVICES FOR THEIR PRODUCTION, ITEMS CARRYING AN OPTICAL EFFECT LAYER, AND USES THEREOF
Magnetic field-generating device including a plurality of elements selected from magnets and pole pieces and including at least one magnet. Plurality of elements are (i) located below supporting surface or space configured to receive a substrate acting as supporting surface or (ii) forming a supporting surface, and are configured to provide a magnetic field with magnetic field lines running substantially parallel to supporting surface or space in two or more areas above supporting surface or space. Two or more areas form nested loop-shaped areas surrounding a central area; and/or the plurality of elements include a plurality of magnets, which are rotatable around an axis of rotation such that areas with field lines running substantially parallel to supporting surface or space combine upon rotation around axis of rotation, thereby forming, upon rotation around axis of rotation, a plurality of nested loop-shaped areas surrounding one central area.
Display and information-printed matter
A display includes a substrate with a light-transmitting property, a relief structure-forming layer disposed on at least one surface of the substrate and including a relief-structured region on a surface thereof opposite to its surface in contact with the substrate, a light-reflecting layer disposed on the surface of the relief structure-forming layer including the relief-structured region, and a printed layer formed on a surface of the substrate opposite to the surface on which the relief structure-forming layer is disposed, or between the relief structure-forming layer and the light-reflecting layer, or on a side of the light-reflecting layer opposite to its surface in contact with the relief structure-forming layer. The relief-structured region is constituted by recessed or protruding portions arranged two-dimensionally, has low reflectivity and low diffusibility under a normal illumination condition, and exhibits a diffracted light-emitting property under a specific condition.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRINTING A SECURITY CARD
The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for printing a security card. A security image is printed onto the receiving layer of a dye receptive reverse transfer film, which can then be applied to the card and bonded with the card. The printing of the security image occurs by transferring overcoat material from an overcoat panel of the dye carrying film onto the receiving layer of the dye receptive reverse transfer film in a pattern, which forms the visual security image. This process can be used in conjunction with the printing of a primary image by printing Yellow, Magenta, Cyan dyes and Black resin (YMCK) to the receiving layer in a reverse transfer printing method to provide a security card having a primary image and a security image. The security image printing may occur before or after the YMCK printing.
PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF METALLIC NANO-PARTICLE LAYERS AND THEIR USE FOR DECORATIVE OR SECURITY ELEMENTS
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of thin silver nano-particle layers, which are produced directly on a substrate as part of a coating or printing process. The layers show different colours in transmittance and reflectance. The layers do not show the typical conductivity of metallic layers, since the particles are essentially discrete particles which are not sintered. The invention further relates to decorative and security elements. When the layers are applied over a security element, such as a hologram, the obtained products show also different colours in reflection and transmission, an extremely bright optically variable image (OVD image) and high purity and contrast. Depending on the thickness of the layer a more or less intensive metallic aspect appears.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR OPTICALLY VARIABLE PRINTING
A method is provided for printing to a target. The method includes printing a first image to the target. The first image is printed with a metallic material. The method also includes printing a second image to the target over the first image. The second image is printed with a colored semi-transparent material.
METHOD FOR CREATING A HIDDEN PATTERN
The present invention relates to a method for creating a hidden pattern on a substrate, wherein a liquid treatment composition comprising at least one acid is deposited by inkjet printing onto a substrate, which comprises at least one external surface comprising a salifiable alkaline or alkaline earth compound.
Optically variable device
A security element, security device and method of forming a security device wherein the security element includes focusing elements, a first group of image elements, and a second group of image elements, each image element being located in an object plane to be viewable through a focusing element, and being located a distance from the focusing element such that the focal point width of the focusing element in the object plane is substantially equal to the size of the image element or differs from the size of the image element by a predetermined amount.
SUBSTRATE AND SYSTEM FOR PRINTING SECURITY SYMBOLS ON SUBSTRATE USING MICROPRINTING TECHNIQUES
Examples are directed toward anticounterfeit markings printed on a substrate. The substrate has a front side and a back side and is printed with front side markings on the front side and back side markings on the back side. The front side markings and the back side markings have dimensions in a micrometer range. The front side when viewed with reflected light comprises first portions of a plurality of characters. The back side when viewed with reflected light comprises second portions of the plurality of characters. The first portions and the second portions are printed, when viewed with transmitted light, to show the plurality of characters as whole characters having dimensions in the micrometer range, as a transmitted light security feature.
A PRIVACY SCREEN PROTECTOR HAVING AN IMAGE AND A METHOD OF MAKING THEREOF
The disclosure provides a screen protector that not only protects screens but also includes at least one image that is visible based on activation of a display area of a screen and a privacy filter. The privacy filter can be part of the screen protector. In one example, a method of making a privacy screen protector for a screen, includes: (1) adding at least one image to a surface of a substrate and (2) adding a privacy filter to the substrate that includes a viewing angle, wherein visibility of the at least one image is based on the viewing angle of the privacy filter and on activation of a display area of a screen onto which the screen protector is installed.
Security devices and methods of manufacture thereof
A security device is disclosed, including: a substrate having opposing first and second surfaces; on the first surface of the substrate, a surface relief structure formed of one or more cured, at least semi-transparent material(s); and on the second surface of the substrate, a print layer. In at least a first region of the security device in at least part of which the substrate is transparent or translucent, the surface relief structure and the print layer are each defined in accordance with a common image and are in alignment with one another, the surface relief structure exhibiting a first set of feature(s) of the common image and the print layer exhibiting a second set of feature(s) of the common image. The common image is exhibited by the surface relief structure and the print layer in combination with one another and the surface relief structure provides tactility to the common image.
