SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRINTING OF REMOVABLE AND PERMANENT IMAGES ON AN OBJECT
20200198387 · 2020-06-25 ·

Systems and methods for printing a plurality of images on an object include receiving a digital file comprising a plurality of images (removable and/or permanent) to be printed on an object. The method further includes, for each of the plurality of images: determining whether that image is a removable image or a permanent image, identifying, based on the determination, at least one layer to be used for printing that image in addition to a marking material layer, determining a composition of the marking material layer, and determining a composition of the at least one layer. The at least one layer may be a pre-coat layer applied under the marking material layer and/or a post-coat layer applied over the marking material layer. The marking material layer and the at least one layer are then printed on the object.

A predetermined area of a print surface is captured by a camera as a plurality of subdivided images to include an end edge portion of a previously printed image on a coating-target object, the end edge portion serving as a connection portion with an image to be drawn to be printed contiguous to the printed image, a composite print surface, which is a plane projection of the print-target surface which is non-plane, is created on the basis of the captured subdivided images, an edited image to be drawn is created by superimposing the image to be drawn on the composite print surface, and the image to be drawn is adjacently printed contiguous to the printed image on the basis of the edited image to be drawn.

3D colored dot printing apparatus and method for color coding
10688805 · 2020-06-23 ·

An automated method for depositing colored thermoset resin dots on a metal surface for color coding metal surfaces, such as surfaces on surgical instruments. A liquid one component heat curing thermoset resin is combined with a colored pigment to form a colored liquid thermoset resin. A metal surface is pretreated by spraying with a surface activating agent. Thereafter, one or more drops of the colored thermoset resin are dispensed onto the surface and then heat cured (hardened), thereby forming colored thermoset resin dots. A chemical bond is formed between the colored thermoset resin and the metal, thereby making the thermoset resin dots adhere strongly and permanently to the surface. The method is fully automated with a 3-D colored dot printer and spray dispenser. The colored thermoset resin dots will not flake, peel, or turn up at the edges, thus making them useful for coding surgical instruments. The method does not require any special skill or training.

Tablet printing apparatus and tablet printing method

According to one embodiment, a tablet printing apparatus includes a conveying device, an inkjet printing device, and a control device. The conveying device is configured to convey a tablet. The printing device includes a nozzle array in which a plurality of nozzles are arranged in a direction crossing a conveying path where the tablet is conveyed by the conveying device, and performs printing by ejecting ink from the nozzles to the tablet being conveyed by the conveying device. The control device increases either one of a resolution in the conveying direction of the tablet at the time of performing the printing and a resolution in the array direction of the nozzles at the time of performing the printing higher than the other according to a print density or a print shape on the tablet, and controls the printing device to perform the printing.

METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR DIRECT PRINT HAVING IMPROVED RECYCLABILITY
20200181432 · 2020-06-11 ·

The disclosure relates to ink compositions for digital printing on an external surface of a plastic article. The ink compositions comprise an ink removal-promoting additive. In some aspects, the ink removal-promoting additive can facilitate the separation or loosening of the image from the external surface of the article when the image is exposed to a liquid-based solution at an elevated temperature. Also disclosed are recyclable plastic articles having an external surface with an image printed thereon using the disclosed ink composition and methods for removing cured ink from a plastic container. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present invention.

SKIN PRINTER

A skin printer includes a printer housing including a receiving part to receive a plurality of cartridges having a nozzle to discharge a printing solution including at least one of an ink, a coating agent, a fragrant material, and a fluorescent substance or a combination of the ink, the coating agent, the fragrant material, and the fluorescent substance, and a plurality of discharge holes to discharge the printing solution from nozzles of the plurality of cartridges received in the receiving part, a main roller rollably provided in the printer housing to guide movement of the printer housing along a skin, and at least one spacing roller interposed between the discharge holes paired to be adjacent to each other to space the printer housing to the skin, and to roll along the skin together with the main roller.

Inkjet printed livery application process

A method of treating a contoured surface with surface treatment layer includes applying a surface preparation layer along the contoured surface and applying a basecoat layer on top of the surface preparation layer. The method further includes stabilizing the basecoat layer to prepare a basecoat surface along the basecoat layer for one or more subsequent layers of the surface treatment coating and jetting a decorative livery layer along the contoured surface using one or more ink jet print heads. The method further includes applying an adhesion promoter on top of the decorative livery layer and stabilizing the adhesion promoter layer to produce a desired bonding surface along the adhesion promoter layer. Additionally, the method includes applying a clear coat layer to cover the underlying decorative livery layer, the basecoat layer and the surface preparation layer.

Method for printing on hollow bodies
