The present invention concerns a new use for shrinkable plastic film, particularly shrink sleeve label film, which can be directly anchored to a frame (which may or may not already have a canvas) to form a novel shrink film canvas. The inner and/or outer surface of said film can be printed and/or painted on, preferably heat shrunk to conform to the edges of said frame, and can be further treated by methods and means known to the art, to serve as a painting on a shrink film canvas. If only the inner part of the canvas is printed or painted on, the outer surface of the shrink film can serve as a protective layer, while also providing a glossy sheen normally achieved through the application of a varnish medium. The painted or unpainted plastic film, can further be treated as necessary to further alter and/or enhance the appearance of the image it carries, and need not be limited to canvas art work, and instead be used as a singular product, such as, for example, gift wrapping material, or in combination with other products, such as in a kit.

A process and apparatus for sublimating printed images onto two or more products substantially simultaneously are disclosed. Software components are configured to receive input of a desired number of products to sublimate, and then determine a spatial arrangement of the printed images on transfer media to sublimate the desired number of products substantially simultaneously. The apparatus is configured to print the images onto the media according to the spatial arrangement, then position the media onto a substrate. The products are automatically placed on the media proximate to their corresponding printed images. The apparatus manipulates the media to substantially surround the products and places at least one image onto each side of each product to be sublimated. One or more heating platens engage the media to sublimate the images. The heating platens are configured, using a control, to sublimate multiple products substantially simultaneously in a single thermal cycle.

It is an object of the present invention a sound tuning layer which is PE based and obtained from the steps of sublimation of a PE based starting material with an open cell structure, and subsequent cold pressing, said cold pressing being performed at a lower temperature as regards the sublimation step, and while the sublimated sound tuning layer is still hot, and thereby forming the sound tuning layer, with an open cell structure. It therefore provides a more environmentally friendly and simple solution than those of prior art.
