A dynamic tunnel book assembly and the associated method of creating the tunnel book assembly from a component kit. The tunnel book assembly has page substrates and a rear cover. Each of the page substrates includes a hole. When the page substrates are stacked into a book, the holes in the page substrates at least partially overlap and form a tunnel. A plurality of secondary elements are provided. The secondary elements attach to the page substrates with fasteners that allow the secondary elements to pivot. Furthermore, each of the secondary elements is an assembly of pieces. At least some of the pieces in the assembly are selectively positionable. This enables at least some of the pieces to be selectively extended into the tunnel. The page substrates and the pieces of the secondary elements are customed colored prior to assembly.

Book construction with die-cut holes demonstrating readily decodable words in ongoing story
12370823 · 2025-07-29 ·

The present application is a book construction, designed to be used in multiple children's books, utilizing strategically placed die-cut holes in an ongoing story that can deliver structured and intentional practice in decoding words. This includes identifying alphabet letters, identifying sounds assigned to letters, and identifying sounds assigned to recognizable letter patterns. Every book targets a different recognizable letter pattern and this pattern will be the targeted base for decoding an entire set of words in each book as the story unfolds. Each die-cut hole will split a word into an initial letter sound and the sound assigned to the recognizable letter pattern. Blending these two sounds together creates a new word. The meaning of the new word may be more readily apparent as it appears in the context of a complete sentence in an ongoing story.

Animated perforated images

A structure for depicting a plurality of images has a lower perforated screen having the plurality of images. A first image is formed from first perforations arranged in a series of first image lines. A second image is formed from second perforations arranged in a series of second image lines. An upper defining screen is arranged substantially co-planarly over the lower perforated screen. A width of defining apertures in the upper defining screen is about the width of the first image lines and the second image lines so that from any viewing perspective the first image or the second image can be isolated for viewing. The first image is viewable from a first viewing location and the second image is viewable from a second viewing location so that repeated movement of an observer between the first and second viewing locations allows the plurality of images to appear to be animated.
