Optical switch devices

A security device includes an array of lenses and a plurality of first and second segments disposed under the array of lenses. At a first viewing angle, the array of lenses presents a first image for viewing without presenting the second image for viewing, and at a second viewing angle different from the first viewing angle, the array of lenses presents for viewing the second image without presenting the first image for viewing. At least one first or second segment can include one or more microstructures or one or more nanostructures configured to produce one or more colors for the first or second image.

Smart processing devices and systems for controlling functionality of smart processing devices are provided. In some examples, a smart processing device may include a central segment and a plurality of removable segments. The removable segments may be connected to the central segment in a plurality of different configurations. In some examples, each configuration may enable or disable functionality associated with the smart processing device. Further, a system may receive data associated with a current physical configuration of a smart processing device. The current physical configuration data may be compared to pre-stored configuration data in order to identify one or more functions to be enabled or disabled for the smart processing device. The system, computing platform, or the like, may generate an instruction, command or signal enabling or disabling functionality and may transmit the signal to the smart processing device for execution and control of functions provided by the smart processing device.

A display body includes lattice lines that are arranged along a plane of incidence on which light is incident. The lattice lines have properties for forming a bright image with diffracted light of the incident light in an oblique view in which the plane of incidence is viewed obliquely, and absorbing some of the incident light. The surface of each of the lattice lines includes dispersed fine step parts that are repetitive in the direction in which the lattice lines extend. The steps have an antireflection function and form a dark image in a front view directly facing the plane of incidence.

The present invention relates generally to a data carrier and a method for making the data carrier. More particularly, this invention relates to color laser marking of article, especially security documents. The present invention proposes a security document comprising a multilayers assembly instead of a single color component mixture in a layer. The multilayer assembly comprises at least two laser sensitive layer. Each layer comprises at least one coloring agent component. The order arrangement of the multilayers of bleachable coloring agent component is made so that each layer behaves as a wavelength filter configured to selectively transmit longer wavelengths and block or attenuate shorter wavelengths while protecting the underneath coloring agent component from bleaching interference.
