Polymer laminate for a security and/or valuable document and method for the production thereof

In order to create novel security features in secure and/or valuable documents, a polymer layer composite, which has at least two polymer layers that are bonded to each other in a material fit is provided. At least one surface is printed with an absorbing printed layer within a visible region in and/or on the composite located on a polymer layer of the composite. The absorbing printed layer forms at least one printed region, and all printed regions of the printed surface of the polymer layer have a total surface area of at least 50% and not more than 95%.

The present invention relates generally to a data carrier comprising an opaque layer and a method for making the data carrier. During personalization phase, the ablation of the opaque layer by laser through the data carrier allows to define a see-through portion of the data carrier carrying opaque security, said see-through portion having an improved security corresponding to opaque embossing pattern overlapping at least partially the opaque security partially destroyed. Said defined see-through portion carrying opaque security partially destroyed with opaque embossing pattern on its surface is even more difficult to reproduce by forger, even more difficult to remove, replace or exchange and easy to check.

Identification document with dynamic window

An identification document including a multilayer laminate having a core layer defining an opening therethrough, and a dynamic window in the opening. The dynamic window includes an optically variable coating on at least a front or a back of the dynamic window. The optically variable coating appears transparent when viewed from the front of the identification document in light transmitted through the dynamic window from the back of the identification document toward the front of the identification document, and appears nontransparent when viewed from the front of the identification document in light reflected from the front of the identification document. Fabricating an identification document with a dynamic window includes forming an opening in a core layer, positioning a dynamic window in the opening, and plate laminating the core layer and the dynamic window between at least one outer layer on each side of the core layer.

Disclosed is a security document including an image area, a repeating image pattern in the image area of mutually spaced image elements at a mutual distance D and a layer of a plastics material overlying the image area and an array of lenses in the plastics material. The lenses are spaced at a mutual distance L which may be equal to D or which may differ from D, the array of lenses overlying only a part of the image area surface and are formed in the plastics material within an image contour. Within the contour an image may be observed such as a Moir magnification or a Moir effect of light and dark stripes. The lenses may be formed for instance by laser ablation or by imprinting.

Identification document with contoured surface image

A multilayer laminate identification document including an outer layer having a contoured surface image formed therein via laser ablation. The contoured surface image has contours based on a digital monochrome image, and has a first appearance when viewed in reflected light at a first angle and a second, different appearance when viewed in reflected light at a second, different angle. The multilayer laminate identification document is formed by generating a second digital monochrome image with continuous pixel patterns from a first digital monochrome image, and irradiating the surface of the identification document with a laser using the second digital monochrome image as a guide to form a contoured surface image in the surface of the identification document.
