LIPID A MIMICS, METHODS OF PREPARATION, AND USES THEREOF
The invention provides lipid A mimics in which one or both of the sugar residues of a natural lipid A disaccharide backbone has been replaced with an aromatic group. These lipid A mimics may further differ from a natural lipid A molecule with respect to other structural characteristics, such as, a different number of phosphate groups present, changes in the number, structure and location of lipid chains and/or changes in the spacing and linkage of the sugar residues (or their aromatic replacements). The lipid A mimics may be lipid A agonists and as such may be useful as immunostimulatory agents in inducing or patenting an antibody and/or cell-mediated immune response, or may be lipid A antagonists and as such may be useful in treating or preventing a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/lipid A-mediated disease or disorder. Also provided are methods for preparing the lipid A mimics.
Smoking device
Apparatus and methods are described for use with a portion of plant material that includes at least one active ingredient. A vaporizing unit includes a heating element configured to heat the plant material, and a sensor configured to detect an indication of airflow rate through the vaporizing unit. Control circuitry is configured to receive an indication of the airflow rate through the vaporizing unit, and, in response thereto, to determine a smoking profile that is desired by the user. The control circuitry drives the heating element to vaporize the active ingredient of the plant material by heating the plant material according to the determined smoking profile. The control circuitry dynamically updates the smoking profile in response to changes in airflow rate over the course of a smoking session. Other applications are also described.

ANATABINE POWDER COMPOSITIONS
Anatabine powder compositions include a sugar or adhesion reducing compound and are suitable for inhalation and methods of forming the same. Sugar and an anatabine compound may be spray dried to form a dry anatabine powder composition. The anatabine powder may have a particle size of about 20 micrometres or less, 10 micrometres or less, or from about 1 to about 4 micrometres, measured as mass medium aerodynamic diameter. A powder may include a plurality of particles comprising an anatabine compound and a sugar or adhesion reducing compound and the plurality of particles have a particle size of about 20 micrometres to about 200 micrometres, measured as mass medium aerodynamic diameter.
LONG-ACTING INJECTABLE FORMULATIONS AND CRYSTALLINE FORMS OF BUPRENORPHINE DERIVATIVES
This disclosure relates to crystalline forms of 3-acyl-buprenorphine derivatives and sustained release injectable pharmaceutical compositions for treatment of opioid dependence, pain or depression, including an aqueous suspension of crystalline 3-acyl-buprenoprhine, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the composition does not include an organic solvent, a polylactide polymer, a polyglycolide polymer, or a copolymer of polylactide and polyglycolide. This disclosure also includes 3-acyl-buprenoprhine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof prepared in a controlled release matrix, including poly(lactide-co-glycolide), sucrose acetoisobutyrate, lecithin, diolein and a combination of two or more thereof.
