Method for producing a hydrophobic or superhydrophobic surface topography
09962862 · 2018-05-08 · ·

A method for producing a hydrophobic or superhydrophobic surface topography on a smooth or structured surface of a pressing tool in the form of a pressing plate, endless belt, or embossing roller for producing material plates, plastic films, separating films, PVC surfaces, and LVTs (luxury vinyl tiles), includes the following steps: preparing a surface template having a microstructure, making an impression of the surface using a resin, scanning the molded surface using a 3-D microscope, converting the digitalized data from the scanning process with depth measurement into grayscale bitmaps, using the grayscale bitmaps to control the machining process of an abrasive surface treatment or to apply a mask for chemically processing the pressing tool in order to produce the surface topography. For this purpose, either the pressing tool is partially covered with a mask and subjected to an etching operation or the determined grayscale bitmap data are used to control an abrasive machining head.

Colored glass

A colored glass, a surface of which is roughened in whole or in part. In the colored glass, an average value of gloss values measured at 9 points in the surface thereof at an incident angle of 60 in accordance with JIS 28741 (1991) is 30 or less, a ratio of a difference between a maximum gloss value and a minimum gloss value to the maximum gloss value is 20% or less, and a minimum value of visible-light transmittance at a thickness of 0.8 mm is 70% or less.

ELECTROSTATIC CHUCK OPTIMIZED FOR REFURBISHMENT
20170250101 · 2017-08-31 ·

A method of manufacturing an electrostatic chuck includes bonding an electrostatic puck to a metal base plate, wherein the electrostatic puck has an electrode embedded in the electrostatic puck. The method further includes subsequently polishing a surface of the electrostatic puck to a flatness of below 10 microns and an average surface roughness of approximately 2-6 micro-inches. The method further includes subsequently forming surface features on a surface of the electrostatic puck, the surface features comprising mesas and a sealing band around a perimeter of the electrostatic puck.

Electrostatic chuck refurbishment

An indication that an electrostatic chuck has a gas leakage rate that exceeds a leakage threshold is received. A determination is made as to whether a first polishing procedure that polishes surface features on a surface of the electrostatic chuck without removing the surface features would reduce a thickness of the surface features to below a thickness threshold. The electrostatic chuck is polished using the first polishing procedure responsive to determining that the first polishing procedure would not reduce the thickness of the surface features to below the thickness threshold. Responsive to determining that the first polishing procedure would reduce the thickness of the surface features to below the thickness threshold, a second polishing procedure that removes the surface features from the surface of the electrostatic chuck is performed. After the second polishing procedure, new surface features are formed on the surface of the electrostatic chuck.

ATTACHING GLASS TO STONE

The present invention extends to methods for attaching a piece of glass to a piece of stone. In some aspects, specifically designed glass inlays are secured within a void in a piece of stone. The glass inlays can include colored glass letters, numbers, designs, etc. In some aspects, glass inlays and voids are specifically designed to match one another. Glass inlays can be affixed within the voids using an adhesive. Grout can then be used to set the glass inlays in place. The result can be monument or marker that commemorates an event or person.

Decoration panel for home appliances, home appliance including the same, and method for manufacturing the decoration panel

A decoration panel for home appliances having excellent reflectivity and durability, the decoration panel being applicable to outer sides of various home appliances, a home appliance including the decoration panel, and a method for manufacturing the decoration panel. More specifically, the decoration panel for home appliances includes: an aluminum substrate with one surface in which an engraved pattern having a preset width and a preset depth is formed, the engraved pattern having micro unevenness formed in a surface of the engraved pattern; a porous aluminum oxide layer formed on the engraved pattern; and a sealing layer formed to close a plurality of pores of the porous aluminum oxide layer, wherein an edge of the aluminum substrate is in a Chamfering (C) shape or a Rounding (R) shape.
