WHEEL FASTENING SYSTEM

A wheel fastening system for a vehicle is disclosed. In an embodiment, a hub for mounting a wheel includes a threaded surface and a nut which is engageable with the threaded surface to fasten the wheel to the hub. When the nut is engaged with the threaded surface, rotation of the nut in a first direction about an axis of the hub results in tightening of the nut on the hub. A pawl assembly on one or more pawls and a ratchet which are arranged so that, when the nut is engaged with the threaded surface, each of the pawls engages with the ratchet to thereby allow rotation of the nut about the axis in the first direction and block rotation of the nut about the axis in a second, opposite direction. In this manner, unwanted loosening of the nut on the hub may be prevented.

Vehicle with a wheel hub assembly

A wheel hub assembly for a vehicle includes a shaft adapted for operatively connecting to a motor of the vehicle. The shaft including a threaded end portion, and a splined portion including a plurality of external splines; an integral braking hub disposed on and connected to the shaft; a wheel fastened to the integral braking hub by a plurality of fasteners; and a nut fastened to the threaded end portion of the shaft, the wheel being disposed between the nut and the brake disc portion in an axial direction of the shaft. The integral braking hub includes a central hub portion including a plurality of internal splines and a brake disc portion extending radially from the central hub portion, the brake disc portion being integral with the central hub portion and the central hub portion or the brake disc portion defining a plurality of through-holes.

WHEEL HUB LOCKING SYSTEM

Locking assembly for securing a wheel rim to a wheel hub of a vehicle, comprising a locking element with a cylindrical extension along the wheel hub main axis, having a first threaded section complementary to a hub second threaded section, wherein the locking element has at least one securing means which is movable between a locking position and a release position, said securing means comprising a retaining part which faces a corresponding abutment surface arranged on a hub central tubular portion, when the securing means is in its locking position, in such a way that, in the locking position, loosening of the locking element with respect to the wheel hub is prevented by engagement of said retaining part with said abutment surface.

Integrated hub bearing unit

A hub bearing unit includes a radially outwardly extending flange, a first portion on a first side of the flange and a tubular portion on a second side of the flange. A bearing outer ring surrounds the first portion, and rolling elements are mounted between the first portion and the outer ring. A splined shaft of a constant velocity joint extends into the hub and has a threaded end portion inside the tubular portion. A threaded connector is mounted on the threaded end portion and has a deformable portion configured to be deformed to prevent the threaded connector from being unscrewed. A portion of the tubular portion near the flange includes a radial through hole configured to allow a torque arm of a deformation tool to access and deform the deformable portion.
