IMPROVED CONDITIONING HAIR TREATMENT PRODUCT WITH WASHOUT PROTECTION
Hair treatment products contain 0.001 to 20% by weight of a complexing agent selected from tetrasodium-N,N-bis(carboxylatomethyl)-L-glutamate, pentasodium diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA), tetrasodium disuccinate (IDS) and from about 0.05 to about 0.5 mol/kg of either a bivalent salt of a monovalent organic acid or 0.01 to 0.5 mol/kg of at least one monovalent organic acid (c1) and 0.01 to 0.1 mol/kg at least one bivalent inorganic salt (c2). Use improves structural reinforcement and reduces or prevents color washout in dyed hair.
Dermatological Product
The present invention discloses a composition comprising sugar alcohols or a combination of sugar alcohols and a Tetraselmis extract or either of the former together with niacinamide for treating or preventing dysfunctions of the human hair or skin or as a skin or hair care product.
AN ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION
This invention relates to an antimicrobial composition, especially one which provides synergistic anti-dandruff efficacy. This is achieved through a judicious combination of anti-dandruff agent zinc pyrithione and a benzophenone compound of specific types. These compositions can be delivered through very many different types of personal care products e.g. shampoo or conditioner.
AN ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION
This invention relates to an antimicrobial composition, especially one which provides synergistic anti-dandruff efficacy. This is achieved through a judicious combination of anti-dandruff agent zinc pyrithione and select antimicrobial lipids. These compositions can be delivered through shampoo or conditioner. Disclosed is an anti-microbial composition comprising: (i) 0.1 to 3% by weight of zinc pyrithione; (ii) 0.01 to 5.0% by weight of an antimicrobial lipid selected from sapienic acid, palmitoleic acid, sphingosine, dihydrosphingosine, and phytosphingosine; and a cosmetically acceptable vehicle, wherein said composition is a shampoo or a conditioner for preventing or alleviating the symptoms of dandruff on the scalp and/or hair and where an antimicrobial alcohol having 1 to 7 carbon atoms are absent from the composition.
Compositions containing plant mucilage
A body lubricating, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory formulation utilizes a mucilage-containing extract derived from a plant such as okra, Abelmoschus esculentus (Hibiscus esculentus). The formulation can be provided as a free liquid such as a solution, suspension, foam, gel, cream, ointment, or spray or alternatively impregnated into an absorbent solid article such as a wipe, swab, a bandage or a gauze. Application of the formulation to a mucosal or external bodily tissue result in the application of a layer of mucilage that lubricates and moisturizes the tissue as well as protects it from external damage from foreign particles and UV irradiation. Application of the formulation to an inflamed tissue provides anti-inflammatory effects. The formulation can be impregnated into a cloth pad to provide an eyelid wipe.
Method of treating hair or skin with a personal care composition in a foam form
A method of treating hair or skin with a creamy foam. The method comprises dispensing a personal care composition from a mechanical foam dispenser as a dosage of foam, applying the dosage of foam to hair or skin, and rinsing the dosage of foam from hair or skin. The personal hair composition contains a surfactant system that is substantially free of sulfate-based surfactants. The personal hair composition has a viscosity of less than 60 cP and a lather volume greater than 77 cm.sup.3.
Compact shampoo composition
A compact, stable shampoo composition containing a cationic polymer and from about 20% to about 40%, by weight, of a surfactant system. The shampoo composition is substantially free of sulfate-based surfactants. The surfactant system contains acyl glutamate and one or more co-surfactants. The weight ratio of acyl glutamate to total surfactant can be less than 0.55.
Compact shampoo composition containing sulfate-free surfactants
A compact shampoo composition containing a cationic polymer and from about 20% to about 40%, by weight, of a surfactant system. The shampoo composition is substantially free of sulfate-based surfactants. The surfactant system contains acyl glutamate, sodium cocoyl isethionate, and a zwitterionic surfactant. The weight ratio of zwitterionic surfactant to sodium cocoyl isethionate can be greater than 1.5.
Hair care compositions containing extracellular metabolite preparation from Bacillus coagulans
Disclosed are hair care compositions containing partially purified extracellular metabolite preparation from strains of Bacillus coagulans. Specifically, the uses of compositions containing extracellular metabolite preparation from a strain of Bacillus coagulans for increasing hair growth, inhibition of 5α-reductase and proliferation of follicle dermal papilla cells and in the management of androgenic alopecia, are disclosed.
Guar hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride and uses thereof in hair treatment compositions
The present invention relates to a non-cellulosic polysaccharide derivative: i) having a mean average molecular weight (Mw) from about 100,000 g/mol, preferably from about 150,000 g/mol and more preferably from about 200,000 g/mole to about 2,000,000 g/mol, preferably to about 1,800,000 g/mol and more preferably to about 1,400,000 g/mole; and ii) containing at least one cationic group, with a cationic degree of substitution (DS.sub.cat.).sub.extraction, from about 0.20 to about 0.30.
