The oxidative hair dye composition at the time of use has a viscosity at 25° C. of 3,000 to 10,000 mPa.Math.s. The oxidative hair dye composition further includes (A) a salt of an oxidative dye, (B) a cationic surfactant in a content of 0.15% by mass or more, (C) a nonionic surfactant having an HLB value of 17 to 20, and (D) a nonionic surfactant having an HLB value of 11 or less.

The invention also relates to diffusions for implementing the method.
