Wheel skirt for lockable caster and methods of making
The present disclosure relates to caster wheels having a skirt, specifically a skirt which fits over one side of the wheel only, and thus does not interfere with the actuation of a caster wheel locking mechanism.
Exercise machine and method for use in a supine position
An exercise machine has a mobile base and an upright support extending upwards from the mobile base. An upper support assembly extends forward from an upper portion of the upright support and an exercise device is suspended from the upper support assembly at a location spaced forward from the upright support. The mobile base has caster wheels and can be positioned from either side of a bed so as to extend partially under a bed with the upright support located on one side of the bed and the exercise device suspended over the bed in a position accessible by a patient lying supine in the bed for performing exercise. An anchoring system resists movement of the base for stability when exercise is performed.
Patient care bed
A caster locking mechanism includes a foot movable between retracted and extended positions, a lock bar movable from an unlocked to a locked position, a release bar movable from an initial to a release position, and a lock and release assembly. The lock and release assembly includes a guide plate defining a slot, a rocker coupled to the lock bar and including a protrusion slidably disposed within the slot, and a release member coupled to the release bar and including a protrusion slidably disposed within the slot. Moving the lock bar to the locked position slides the protrusion of the rocker through the slot to extend the foot. Moving the release bar to the release position urges the protrusion of the release member through the and into contact with the protrusion of the rocker to urge the protrusion of the rocker back, thereby retracting the foot.
Furniture roller stop
A furniture roller stop having a U-shaped body constructed from a flexible material. The body includes two spaced apart side legs and a base leg connecting the side legs together thus forming a channel between the side legs dimensioned to fit around the roller of the furniture so that the side legs are positioned closely adjacent the roller. A bendable band is attached to the body and extends around the base leg and at least a portion of each side leg. The shape of the channel is adjustable by bending the band which thereafter retains the bent side legs in the new position.
TWO-LAYER PHOTO-RESPONSIVE MEMBRANES
A two-layer photo-responsive membrane including a polymer layer and a support layer, the polymer layer being disposed on a surface of the support layer. The polymer layer is formed of a graft copolymer that contains a hydrophobic backbone and multiple side chains, the side chains each consisting of repeat units that switch between a hydrophobic form and a hydrophilic form upon exposure to a light of a specific wavelength. The polymer layer has a molecular weight cut-off of 3,000 to 250,000 Daltons and a thickness of 50 nm to 10 ?m; and the support layer has a molecular weight cut-off of 50 to 250,000 Daltons. Also disclosed is a method of preparing this two-layer photo-responsive membrane.
OPERATING CONTROL FOR ACTUATING A BRAKE AND MOVEABLE UNIT, IN PARTICULAR A CHAIR
The invention provides an operating control 28, comprising: a braking body 26 which is adjustable between a braking position, in which the braking body 26 is brought into frictional contact with a braking surface U, and a release position, in which the braking body 26 is pulled back from the braking surface U, a load input portion 22, which is set up to receive a loading force from a user, and a load trigger mechanism 42, 46 which converts a loading force acting on the load input portion 22 into an adjustment movement of the braking body 26 from the release position into the braking position.
Caster wheel tilt bar
Improvements in a caster wheel tilt bar is disclosed. The caster wheel tilt bar is installable and removeable on a caster and is secured over one side of the caster frame and utilizes the tapered portion of the wheel frame. When the cart frame is rotated the tilt bar comes in contact with the ground. Further rotation lifts the wheel above the ground. The tilt bar can be configured in an arc or can be configured with defined angular steps. The angular steps are generally calculated to create a balance point where the cart can hold with limited rocking. The caster wheel tilt bar can also be painted or powder coated to match the color of the pre-existing caster wheel. Because the rod and shoe can be different components, the shoe or rod can be adjusted to accommodate different casters and/or wheel diameters.
CART STABILIZATION SYSTEM, ROLLING CART ELEMENTS AND METHODS OF USING SAME
A cart stabilization system and rolling cart elements for robotic surgery and other medical instrumentation are disclosed. The cart stabilization system includes a base and lifting caster systems coupled to a bottom portion of the base. Each lifting caster system includes a rolling element, a swivel foot assembly moveably coupled to the rolling element; and a hydraulic mounting base coupled to a portion of the swivel foot assembly. Methods of assembling a lifting caster system and for using a cart stabilization system are also disclosed.
SURGICAL ROBOTIC CART IMMOBILIZER
A mobile surgical robotic cart assembly used for minimally invasive surgery includes a vertical column supporting a robotic arm thereon and a base portion having at least three casters adapted to allow the surgical robotic assembly to move. The surgical robotic cart assembly further includes an immobilization assembly coupled to the base portion, the immobilization assembly being configured to move between an unlocked position and a locked position. The surgical robotic cart assembly is mobile when the immobilization assembly is in the unlocked position and immobile when the when the immobilization assembly is in the locked position.
