Two-layer photo-responsive membranes

A two-layer photo-responsive membrane including a polymer layer and a support layer, the polymer layer being disposed on a surface of the support layer. The polymer layer is formed of a graft copolymer that contains a hydrophobic backbone and multiple side chains, the side chains each consisting of repeat units that switch between a hydrophobic form and a hydrophilic form upon exposure to a light of a specific wavelength. The polymer layer has a molecular weight cut-off of 3,000 to 250,000 Daltons and a thickness of 50 nm to 10 m; and the support layer has a molecular weight cut-off of 50 to 250,000 Daltons. Also disclosed is a method of preparing this two-layer photo-responsive membrane.

Luggage having a brakeable wheel

A luggage includes a pull handle unit, a pressing unit mounted in the pull handle unit, a driving unit connected with the pressing unit, a transmission unit connected with the driving unit, and a wheel unit connected with the transmission unit. The pull handle unit includes an outer pipe and an inner pipe. The wheel unit includes a single wheel. When the inner pipe is moved downward in the outer pipe, the wheel is braked and cannot be moved anymore, and when the inner pipe is moved upward in the outer pipe, the wheel is unlocked and is moved freely. Thus, when the inner pipe is retracted into the outer pipe, the wheel is braked temporarily, such that the luggage is locked and cannot be moved when not in use.

Thus, when the inner pipe is retracted into the outer pipe, the two wheels are braked by the brake member, such that the luggage is locked and cannot be moved when not in use.

Stabilizer wheel assembly and methods of use

Included is a stabilizer wheel assembly that may assist in stabilizing a medical device during a medical procedure. A medical device may comprise a body; and a plurality of stabilizer wheel assemblies coupled to the body, wherein the stabilizer wheel assemblies each comprise a motor assembly and a stabilization leg, wherein the motor assembly is configured to drive the stabilization leg onto a contact surface to stabilize the body.

Systems and methods for facilitating movement of a patient transport apparatus

Systems and methods for facilitating movement of a patient transport apparatus. The patient transport apparatus has a support structure and a patient support surface. Caster assemblies are coupled to the support structure to roll about a roll axis and swivel about a swivel axis. A control system is configured to control brake mechanisms, steer-lock mechanisms, and pre-swivel mechanisms of the caster assemblies based on one or more inputs.

DUAL-STATE CASTER AND METHOD

A dual-state caster apparatus having a caster head with a state-change pivot configured to change the steering axis of the caster apparatus. A braking system with a brake control cable is incorporated into the caster apparatus wherein the state-change pivot and the braking system are configured to allow a wheel to swivel without interference with the brake control cable.

CHASSIS OF A TRANSPORTABLE DEVICE

A chassis of a transportable device including a base structure, four casters arranged thereon, four lowerable and raiseable support feet also mounted on the base structure, and a hydraulic support foot actuating device. The hydraulic support foot actuating device has a reservoir (1), a pump (2) manually operable by hand or foot, four support foot linear actuators (3) and a purely hydro-mechanical pipe and valve arrangement (4) which connects the reservoir (1), the pump (2) and the linear actuators (3) to one another. Therein, by means of hydraulic fluid delivered by the pump (2) from the reservoir (1) the two support feet assigned to two primary linear actuators (3a) can be fully extended until a mechanical stop is reached while raising the base structure by first applying pressure to the two primary linear actuators (3a) before applying pressure to the two other, secondary linear actuators (3b).

A Zero-turn lawn-mower that selectively restricts movement of front wheels to achieve controlled movement while on slope is disclosed herein. Lawn-mower includes a mower frame, at least one front wheel disposed underneath mower frame, at least one cam, an actuating rod and a dawg. The cam is fixedly connected to mower frame and in the vicinity of front wheel and is further defined with a notch. Actuating rod of said lawn mower is swivelably connected to mower frame and operable by a driver, typically by a rod pedal. Dawg extends from actuating rod to selectively engage with notch to restrict angular movement of front wheel and selectively disengage from notch to enable angular movement of front wheel. This provides the user to control drift of the mower on an angled or inclined surface. Furthermore, A spring is provided at other end of pedal to reduce tension and provide smooth rotation of actuation rod.
