Treatment intervals for use of compositions comprising energy absorbing materials for dermatological applications

The present invention provides compositions comprising energy (e.g., light) absorbing submicron particles (e.g., nanoparticles comprising a silica core and a gold shell) and methods for delivering such particles via topical application. This delivery is facilitated by application of mechanical agitation (e.g. massage), acoustic vibration in the range of 10 Hz-20 kHz, ultrasound, alternating suction and pressure, and microjets. The method of treatment is performed and then, depending upon the desired clinical outcome, repeated after a treatment response interval has elapsed.

Depilatory compositions comprising aminoalkylpropanol

The present invention is directed to depilatory compositions comprising a depilatory active, alkali metal hydroxide and an aminoalkylpropanol. The compositions have a pH in the range of from 10 to 12.5. The depilatory active preferably contains a thiol group, the alkali metal hydroxide preferably comprises potassium hydroxide and the aminoalkylpropanol preferably comprises aminomethylpropanol. The composition is preferably a gel, mousse, foam, cream, lotion or peelable film, especially a translucent or transparent gel. The depilatory compositions provide effective hair removal yet are well tolerated by the skin and allow for acceptable application times of the composition. The present invention further provides a depilatory composition comprising urea, a carbomer, and a gum; these compositions may or may not comprise aminoalkylpropanol.

Odorless thiols for permanent waving, straightening and depilatory applications

Described herein is a chemical class of odorless thiols which can serve as reducing agents. This chemical class involves thiols which can be used as reducing agents for permanent styling treatments, depilatory compositions and other applications. The odorless thiols are thiols having a heterocyclic quaternary ammonium salt in their molecule.
