Sleeve for Wheel
20210188001 · 2021-06-24 ·

A wheel assembly has a wheel with a hub. A rotation surface disposed in the hub has a bore. A sleeve insertable in the bore of the rotation surface has an outer surface with a circumferential groove and first and second opposite axial ends. The first axial end has a shoulder extending radially outward. A resilient ring disposed in the circumferential groove is compressible to a compression diameter sufficient to enable the sleeve to be inserted in the bore of the rotation surface. The resilient ring is expandable to an expansion diameter greater than the inner surface diameter of the bore of the rotation surface when unconstrained. The circumferential groove is spaced from the shoulder at a distance sufficient to enable the resilient ring to expand to the expansion diameter when the sleeve is inserted in the bore of the rotation surface and the shoulder is adjacent the rotation surface.

DRIVETRAIN SYSTEM HAVING AN AXLE ASSEMBLY

A drivetrain system including an axle assembly that may have an electric motor module, a gear reduction module, a drive pinion, a differential assembly, an auxiliary shaft, and a shift collar. The shift collar may selectively couple the auxiliary shaft, the drive pinion, and the gear reduction module in various combinations.

METHOD OF CONTROLLING A TANDEM AXLE ASSEMBLY
20210146777 · 2021-05-20 ·

Methods of controlling a tandem axle assembly in a vehicle, the tandem axle assembly including an inter-axle differential (IAD), one or more side gears, and a front tandem axle assembly having a pair of front tandem axle half shafts selectively connected to a pair of front tandem axle wheel hub assemblies. When a determined speed of the vehicle is greater or equal to a predetermined speed, the IAD may be locked, the tandem axle wheel hub assemblies may be disconnected from their respective tandem axle shafts, and/or the IAD may be moved out of engagement with the one or more side gears. When a determined speed of the vehicle is less than a predetermined speed, the IAD may be unlocked, the tandem axle wheel hub assemblies may be connected to their respective tandem axle shafts, and/or the IAD may be engaged with the one or more side gears.
