Magnetic-Responsive Photosensitizer Nanoplatform and Uses Thereof

Provided herein are magnetically-responsive, photosensitizer based antimicrobial microemulsions and photodynamic nanoplatforms in which a photosensitizer functionally associated with a plurality of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles are encapsulated. Also provided are methods and processes utilizing the antimicrobial microemulsions and photodynamic nanoplatforms to treat an oral disease, to reduce a microbial population in a pathogenic oral biofilm and to improve the efficacy of a photosensitizer during an antimicrobial photodynamic therapy treatment of an oral disease.

Multi-target antimicrobial compositions comprising chitosan

The present application is directed to antimicrobial compositions comprising chitosan polymers of at least two different average molecular weights (Mws), wherein the Mw of each different chitosan polymer is selected to target a different microorganism as well as method of making and using the compositions and product comprising the compositions.

A composition for reducing microbial activity in an environment susceptible to microbial activity, comprising: metallic nanoparticles; and an oxygenation agent.

Antimicrobial peptide stimulating cleansing composition

A topical cleansing composition for stimulating the production of antimicrobial peptides on the skin is disclosed. The topical cleansing composition includes an active ingredient comprising one or more of a natural extract and a polypeptide; one or more surfactants; and water. The topical cleansing composition increases the concentration of antimicrobial peptides on skin, as compared to an otherwise identical topical composition without the active ingredient.

Methods for spore removal comprising a polysorbate surfactant and cationic antimicrobial mixture

Disclosed herein are methods for removing spores from skin, the method including dispensing an effective amount of a composition into or onto an article, wherein the composition includes water and from about 0.04 wt % to about 4 wt % polymeric cationic antimicrobial, nonionic antimicrobial or combinations thereof; contacting a skin surface with the composition; mechanically acting on the skin surface for at least one (1) second while the skin surface is in the presence of the composition; and removing at least a portion of the composition from the surface of the skin, wherein removing the composition also removes spores from the skin surface.

Alcohol containing non-antimicrobial cleansing composition

A non-antimicrobial cleansing composition is disclosed comprising from about 10.0 wt. % to less than about 40 wt. % of one or more C.sub.1-C.sub.8 alcohols; about 0.5 wt. % to about 10.0 wt. % of at least one primary surfactant; 0 wt. % to about 10.0 wt. % of at least one secondary surfactant, with the primary and secondary surfactants having an HLB value greater than 8; a pH adjusting agent; and water. The composition does not achieve a microbial kill level greater than 2.0 log.

Topical kits and compositions and use thereof

Kits and composition comprising: (i) a thermo-responsive hydrogel characterized by a viscosity suitable for hardening after administration on a subject's skin; (ii) a bacterial growth medium; and optionally, (iii) a population of non-pathogenic viable bacteria, are provided. Methods for topically delivering a therapeutic or cosmeceutical agent such as for inhibiting or reducing growth of microorganisms on a subject's skin are further provided.

USE OF PROPOXYLATED SURFACTANT OR POLYMER IN FOAMING APPLICATIONS TO CONTROL VISCOELASTICITY IN HIGHLY ACTIVE LIQUID FORMULATIONS

Antimicrobial or non-antimicrobial compositions, sanitizing compositions and other compositions combining use of a propoxylated EO/PO block copolymer surfactant and/or propoxylated polymer in combination with at least one additional anionic and/or nonionic surfactant to provide concentrated compositions having a desired viscoelasticity at an active level of at least 18% are disclosed. Non-antimicrobial applications combining use of a propoxylated surfactant and/or propoxylated polymer in combination with at least one additional anionic and/or nonionic surfactant to provide compositions having a desired viscoelasticity are also disclosed. Methods of using concentrated and use compositions having desired foaming enhancement and stabilization are also disclosed.

ANTIBACTERIAL COMPOSITION

A cleansing composition comprising a sulfate surfactant; a fatty acid soap; a silver compound; a thickening agent; and a nitrate. A pH of the cleansing composition is 5 to 10. Another cleansing composition comprising a sulfate surfactant; a silver compound; a thickening agent; a nitrate; and a preservative. A pH of this cleansing composition is 4 to 5.5.
